In most of those videos, they are only going back to recent times…
 
But there are much older UFO accounts that seem even more impressive, some with descriptions that are hard to dismiss.
Take this one from around 74 BCE, recorded by the Greek writer Plutarch in Life of Lucullus (section 8):

But presently, as they were on the point of joining battle, the sky burst asunder, and a huge, flame-like body was seen to fall between the two armies. In shape, it was most like a wine-jar (pithos), and in color, like molten silver. Both sides were astonished at the sight, and separated. This marvel, as they say, occurred in Phrygia, at a place called Otryae.

Those pithoi... giant wine-jars were shaped like large cylinders or eggs.
Pretty spot-on description for a UFO or UAP, especially coming from 2,000 years ago.
