Trump says he bombed Iran
(03-08-2026, 01:32 PM)FlyersFan Wrote: Well, sounds like they are getting a taste of what they were wanting to dish out.
Sounds cold ... but there it is.
War sucks.  That's why it should be avoided if possible.
But Iran lives for it ... it's their whole reason to exist ... war for their imaginary Mahdi.

I think you missed my point.

I was trying to help people zoom out on self awareness. I'm not talking about self awareness as individuals, I meant on a nation.

The reason I know you missed my point is you said their whole reason to exist (Iran) was war. And your mind made that, almost like a distinction between them and us (this is me inferring, so I could be wrong).

How many wars have they been in the past half century? How many have we been in during the same time period?

Obviously we could say "well, Iran supports proxy conflict", which I would agree, so a simple war comparison isn't fair. Yet we've engaged in many proxy conflicts as well.

It's just frustrating, because you're clearly smart, and know your history. You can comment confidently off memory a lot of events, and I'd say you're more factual than a lot of people, not just posters here, even if you and I disagree with the opinions around events. And your sense of American Exceptionalism here isn't by any means a fringe minority, so I'm not knocking you for it. I just struggle to see how someone who remembers all those events, and can be honest about a lot of them when that is the clear talking point... But when we zoom out, we're some how doing this out of peace for the world. Most of our conflicts since WWII have been based on lies, and often had vastly more deaths than the events we used to create the justification for war in the first place. Other time's it's almost completely "preemptive".
CNN Footage of Tehran ... people at gas station giving interviews.
Long lines at gas station, but people are still out and about.
People not looking or acting very 'desperate'.

I highlighted two points.

First.  Thank you for the compliments.
And yes, I didn't see what you were getting at in your other post.
Totally missed what you were saying.

Second ... how many wars have they been in?   Like you said ... they are at war everywhere.   They may not officially declare them, but their entire reason for existing is war for their imaginary Mahdi.  It's their entire economy and ideology and political scape etc etc.   Their world wide terrorism is a war.

Third ... If I"m understanding what you are getting at (yes, I missed your point from your first post) ... 'how we are doing this out of peace for the world".    I think there are a few reasons why there is war with Iran ... here ....

- Because Iran is determined to have nuclear weapons and they have stated that they will be using them on Israel, America, and our allies.   They refuse to back down from this.   They lie in negotiations about it.   So since they are determined to go to war with us in the near future with nukes, it's better to take them at their word on wanting to go to war and get them before they get nukes.

- Because of China.   China gets it's oil from Venezuela and Iran.  By us taking control in those places it hurts China.   It's a chess move since China is deeply involved in South America and wants to harm us.   This, coupled with the Venezuela situation, weakens China which is good for us.

- Because of Bibi.   Yes he wants to protect Israel, but he also needs the distraction for his own legal problems and his own reelection bid.   So I'm sure that factors into why Israel wanted to go in, and Israel wanting to go in factored into our wanting to go in.

- Side reason - regime change.   It was a major fuck up with the change in the 1970s, and how a progressive Iran went to being extremist Muslim.   If the regime can be changed then Iran can come aboard with most others, being in the year 2026 and not the year 800, just like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, and the rest of the Gulf States are working towards.   This is good for everyone in regards to $$$ and stability.   So a money making thing for everyone with regime change.

Lol   That's not what "Salvation comes from the Jews." means.   It means they were specially chosen by God to have the Son of God, the Redeemer' born amongst them as one of them.

Another video of Iran guy explaining Iran's current military posture and retaliatory protocols.

I think it was from Friday.

And some videos emphasizing that Iraqi Kurds would not be joining this fight.

Israeli strikes on oil depots around Tehran have released massive quantities of toxic hydrocarbons, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides. Mixed with rainwater, these chemicals are causing highly acidic precipitation that can cause skin burns and severe lung damage upon contact, according to Iranian authorities.

Dense plumes of black smoke from the Shahran and other refineries have blotted out the sun, plunging parts of the city into darkness and creating a "nuclear winter" effect, NYT reported. Authorities warned that these noxious fumes cause acute respiratory distress and eye irritation.

Oil-saturated rainwater has blanketed the city, leaving rooftops, balconies, and streets covered in a thick, murky black liquid and oily soot. This contamination poses a long-term risk of heavy metals like nickel and vanadium leaching into the soil and local water systems.

Environmental groups warn the pollution threatens migratory birds crossing the Persian Gulf. The "black rain" and smoke plumes can cause internal organ damage and destroy the insulating properties of bird feathers, leading to hypothermia and death.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society warned of the dangers of the rain, advising residents to protect themselves and to cover exposed food from oily soot particles. Officials said the rain is highly corrosive and could potentially damage civilian structures.

I thought they were having a drought for the past 6 years....... unless we did some weather manipulation.
As to the CNN guy....... how come he's still alive in Tehran?

- INTERESTING point about the rain and drought.  yeah .. what gives?   Why oil slick rain now?

- About the CNN guy.   Did you see the video I posted a couple posts back from CNN?  He was doing interviews at a Tehran gas station.   There was a long line at the station, but the people didn't seem uptight at all.   Everyone was driving around like normal and no one seemed in a panic or uptight.  Nothing 'desperate'.     We are hearing about massive bombings and stuff on our TV news here but the CNN guy on the ground made it look like life was going on as usual except for long gas lines.   It was an odd contrast.   Not sure who is telling the truth about the situation there ... the truth is probably some where in the middle between the two.
