I was explaining the term 'Messiah' to the poster.   He said that Jesus is the Messiah for Christians.  That's incorrect.   It's the JEWS who are awaiting the Messiah according to their prophecies.  Christians have no such prophecies therefore they have no Messiah.    Christians have "Christ" who is Redeemer.   

And I explained the term 'Gods Chosen People' since it wasn't understood as well.   Why that is the title given to the Jews (or that they gave themselves, depending on how you look at it)

That's great music.  I have no clue why he picked that term to use.   Catholic theology says that 'Messiah' is a Jewish term and that Christians have a savior, a redeemer, a christ ... and that Jews have a Messiah because THEY are the ones awaiting a Messiah according to THEIR prophecies ... Christians have no such prophecy.  That's how it was explained to me by Franciscan priests in a Franciscan monastery.

ETA .. if you use Google AI and ask about the term 'messiah' it says this - the promised deliverer of the Jewish nation prophesied in the Hebrew Bible.

It's not promised deliverer of Christians and not Christian prophecies.  It's THEIR messiah.

You're acting as if Iran is unique. There are dictatorships all around the world, some even driven by religion. Some of them we even support. There are genocides that happen in Africa every couple of years or decades. Myanmar has been a shit show.

So why is it when something happens in the Middle East, we always have to run point and pay for it?

Then when we talk about how rough things are at home, people will say that's not up to the government, or accuse people of socialism. Yet Israel has received more aid than any other nation from us, and they have free health care. Hell, they started as a socialist country. They had good relations with the USSR, and many officials in the US have noted that they passed along intelligence gathered by Jonathan Pollard. Remember that, one of the most damaging spies in our history?

Biden was horrible, but acting like he was the only one to beat Jimmy Carter is just knee jerk partisan rhetoric.

Bush got us into war with Iraq. We lost more troops in that war than citizens in 9/11. We spent trillions of dollars, and this and other ways helped set the stage for 2008.

And it doesn't just end with the wars, in 2022 17.6 soldiers and veterans committed suicide, on average PER DAY.

So I guess I'm failing to see how the party of "support our troops" or doing that to any meaningful degree.



I understand war is hell, and sometimes we just have to do it. But they aren't even trying to sell it anymore. There is no official narrative on why we are there, or what the objectives are. They never pitched this to the population, and there is little support for it.

No one can even answer why the Middle East is in our interest.

  I know better than you do.  What do you know?  You think Noahs Ark is a true story!  

No the gentiles were not promised a messiah.   It's a Jewish term for Jewish people.  
It's the prophecy of a deliverer of the Jewish nation.   It has nothing to do with Gentiles
being delivered.  

The Jews were 'Gods Chosen People' because God chose them to have the Christ born
through.    This will never change.   They were chosen.   

Romans 11 talks about how since the Jews rejected salvation and that Jesus was accepted
as redeemer by Gentiles, then the Gentiles were then blessed by God with Salvation.
The mandate to proclaim the kingdom of God falls to the Gentiles.

But in no way does that mean Jesus is the 'messiah' for Gentiles.  The Gentiles didn't 
await a Messiah and  had no prophecy for one therefore Christ isn't one for them.
He is Savior ... he is Redeemer ... He is God the Son ... but not 'Messiah'.

And the Jews are still 'Gods Chosen' to have the Christ and salvation come through them.
