Trump Wants To Eliminate Daylight Savings Time

YAY!!  FINE BY ME!   No more changing clocks.  No more body adjusting to new times of waking up/going to bed.  No more dealing with the dog having to adjust to new walking times.  No more parents having to have little kids adjust to new times.  etc etc.   

Just leave the clocks alone.  Pick a way of telling time and stick with it.  ONE WAY .. not this changing of clocks twice a year thing ..

President-elect Donald Trump took to social media Friday to announce his intention to abolish daylight saving time.
 
In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized daylight saving time for its inconvenience and economic costs to the nation. He said he would try to eliminate the practice once he returns to office.

 
“The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation,” Trump wrote.

First time I agree with Trump. Here we are on GMT+8, the same timezone as out major trading parters in Asia but NOOOOOOOOOOOOO  the fkwtz in New South Wales demand us to "try" daylight saving a couple of times a decade and every time we vote not for it.

Maybe the scum in NSW should change their clocks to OUR time as Beijin, Tokyo, Singapore and KL are in time with us, it YOU who needs to remember where the money comes from.

Mexico eliminated DST last year and now my wife and I are in different time zones only 6 months of the year.

I doubt very much that campaign utterances are likely to be a harbinger of any changes...

No one... literally no one.. "asked" for this 'saving time' approach... it was entirely 'proposed and instituted' from within governance.

We could all simply use UTC if nothing else.  If we wanted to agree that increasingly local 'time' is not a "political" or an "economic" reality, only a matter of 'business' opportunity.

We voted to permanently extend Daylight Saving Time (like Arizona) in 2018, but that has yet to go into effect. We have been told it could take up to 2 decades because of all the nebulous considerations that are never really explained.

And every year I get depressed when the sun sets at 4:45 PM.

Trump seems like the president that could speed that along, because God knows we won't do this in a timely way on our own.

It's not so much a derailment. It's pointing out a positive thing Trump has done, instead of the batshit crazy people he's appointing to ironic positions. Yesterday I read "make polio great again," today I read something positive.

Just a few more weeks and I'll have to hear all about my county's sheriff defying the county mandate to defy ICE's deportation of people that defied immigration law.

DST going away is a pleasant thing to throw in to counter all my malaise towards the upcoming administration of panaphobic circular thought and crazy Christian reclaimists.
