Let’s consult Chat GPT to cut through the political hyperbole.
Each year, the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) adjusts its monthly employment figures using a process known as the benchmark revision. This compares initial survey-based estimates to more accurate and comprehensive data from the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages (QCEW)—which relies on administrative records like unemployment insurance tax data covering virtually all businesses. I remember when people used to say the President can’t actually influence the job market.

Retroactively "corrected", with 50 different reporting paths. Gee if only there were a more reliable source of data? It makes no sense. The BLS numbers are garbage data, clearly defined for manipulation and vagueness, when more accurate data sources exist yet are not published (publicly). And no one calls them on it. The argument is just who is doing a better or worst job collecting and skewing the useless garbage data.

Yes, it is the same process for completing the survey and same process for revising the numbers. The commissioner got fired cuz Trump didn’t like the numbers gathered from the survey. It is like firing a weather forecaster if an earthquake hits.
