Yeah, just because you think thats exactly what either one of them did, are doing, or are thinking about doing, doesn't mean bupkis. It's just a fucking opinion.

I bet none of it matters; it gets rejected by Ukraine and NATO Europe, if Ukraine can get the US Weapons paid for through Europe.

thats what I bet will happen, we should know soon enough

EU & UK will reject whatever is on the table and Trump will say "I'm done here, have at it"
I'm hoping not......

Then maybe go and start a thread about it and your 'daddy' issues'??

It's an unwinnable scenario all round, but Putin's small advances are at the cost of massive deaths and his war time economy.

News to me. Interesting news. Here are the European leaders accompanying Zelenskyy to WashingtonOn Sunday, a slew of European leaders announced they would be accompanying Zelenskyy on his trip to Washington, including:

Fine by me.
USA never should have been involved.
Never should have given free billions in aid.
Never should have given advice.
Never should have entered the 'peace talks'.
This is Europes backyard.
They should be the ones deciding what to do and not do.
They should be the ones deciding if they will support a forever war or not.
They should be the ones .... not us.

I hope Ukraine and Europe tell Trump he's been played like a cheap arcade machine by Putin (who knew all cheat codes)

Awww... jeez man shows you remember what you want to remember...

I've repeatedly posted Im 65% for and 35% against Trump's moves in his 2nd term Lol , probably in this thread.

The Ukraine war isn't Trump's mess, FFS, he just has the mop and bucket. Now, Zelenskyy may piss in the mop bucket and NATO Europe may kick the whole thing over and fund Ukraine for the next 12-18 months. All Trump can do is try and
I'm sorry you were so gullible to believe his campaign promise of 24 hours, don't listen to Trump at all. Check his results

because

The end result is the same, EXCEPT now Uncle Sam gets fairly compensated for its Ukrainian support, pretty sure that was part of McCain's original plan, instead of giving it away like Biden did, PUTTING the burden on American taxpayers after 4 years of funding Ukrainian pensions FFS, do you know how stupid that is?

As for the Ukrainian war, Im against American involvement, not our monkey, not our circus, BUT since we are committed and we are now getting fairly compensated I'd love for there to be some payback beyond "drone wars"

I don't think it's in the cards, though they just don't have the troop strength
Quote:Yes, American taxpayers funded Ukrainian pensions to some extent between 2020 and 2024, particularly after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. According to available information, the U.S. provided significant financial aid to Ukraine, including direct budget support that was used for various purposes, such as paying salaries for public employees and pensions.
  • Pre-2022 Context: Before Russia’s invasion in February 2022, there is no clear evidence from the provided sources that U.S. aid specifically targeted Ukrainian pension funds during 2020 or 2021. Most U.S. assistance to Ukraine during this period focused on military, economic, and humanitarian support, but specific allocations for pensions are not well-documented in the sources for these years.
  • Post-2022 Funding: After the invasion, the U.S. significantly increased its financial support to Ukraine. A February 2023 FactCheck.org report confirms that President Joe Biden announced in April 2022 that some of the funding in a supplemental aid package (the Additional Ukraine Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2022, totaling $40 billion) could be used for Ukrainian pensions. A USAID report indicated that, as of November 30, 2022, $4 billion of U.S. budget support had been spent on pensions for 9.8 million Ukrainians.

  • Scale and Mechanism: Between 2022 and 2024, the U.S. provided $30.2 billion in direct budget support to Ukraine, channeled through World Bank mechanisms like the Public Expenditures for Administrative Capacity Endurance (PEACE) Fund. This fund supported government salaries, pensions, and social services. A January 2024 New Kontinent article estimates that approximately $9 billion of U.S. aid had been spent on Ukrainian pensions by that point, with potential for further funding at a rate of up to $600 million per month if additional aid packages were approved.

  • 2024 Restrictions: The $95 billion aid package passed in April 2024, which included $61 billion for Ukraine, explicitly prohibited the use of those funds for pensions. This marked a shift from earlier, less restrictive aid packages that allowed Ukraine to allocate U.S. budget support to pensions among other priorities.

  • Oversight and Controversy: Some X posts and sources, like Townhall and New Kontinent, highlight concerns about U.S. funding for Ukrainian pensions, especially given Ukraine’s history of corruption and domestic financial challenges in the U.S. For example, posts on X from 2023 express frustration over funding foreign pensions while American taxpayers face economic pressures. However, these sentiments are not conclusive evidence and reflect public debate rather than verified misuse. Oversight mechanisms, including World Bank audits and U.S.-Ukraine agreements, were implemented to ensure proper use of funds, though concerns about transparency persisted.

In summary, U.S. taxpayers did fund Ukrainian pensions, particularly from 2022 to 2023, with an estimated $4 billion to $9 billion allocated through direct budget support. However, the April 2024 aid package explicitly barred further pension funding, reflecting a policy shift. Always consider that these figures and details come from a mix of official and secondary sources, and exact amounts may vary due to reporting differences.

It doesn't matter who went first.
Putin won ... with or without Trump ... Putin won.
Ukraine has lost.
It doesn't matter who meets with Trump first or how many 'backups' Zelenskyy brings.
Nothing except all of Europe entering WWIII to support Ukraine will change that Putin won.

Is Europe willing to send their own troops and finance billions for a war to save a section of Ukraine from Putin?   That's the only thing that may get back the land for Ukraine.  And even then, I doubt Putin would give in but he'd escalate it into a wider regional war and then take land from those countries sending troops to Ukraine.

The only smart thing to do ... end the stink'n war.  Putin won.
Give him the land.  He has it anyways.   That stops the war ... for now.

But hey .... I'm a foreigner so my opinion on what goes on there doesn't matter ...  Europe gets to decide if they want a forever war in their backyard and their own troops and billions of $$ involved ... or if they are going to go ahead and admit Putin won.   Trump and the USA should STAY OUT OF IT.

Me too...

I'd love for Ukraine to be able to gain back its lost territories, but Russia has made the cost to do so incredibly high. NATO Europe seems fractured or fracturing.

Putin knows all he has to do is bide his time and keep lobbing missiles.

FWIW, I don't think Putin wants peace either, and we know how Zelensky feels, so Im as skeptical as I ever am.

I'll be gobsmacked if there is a real peace agreement within 3 months
