The Ancients Knew the Power of Sound We are Only Discovering Now

Tell me if you agree with this: sound is what we ear.

I hope y’all can forgive me, for mistakenly stating, sound cannot move air particles on the other side of walls (not to mention move the walls in the process).

Sheesh, it’s no wonder sound can literally defy gravity.

You still can’t answer why something with no mass can move walls and air which do have mass.

Could you answer my previous post?

Sounds not a massless object pushing matter.

It is a pressure wave carried by vibrating particles in a medium, in this instance air.

And it's the particles in the air, that have mass, hence transfer momentum to walls, making them vibrate.

The vibrating wall then moves the air beyond it.

This is established physics, MonkMode...

The paradox is how pressure is created without any apparent mass?

How am I moving walls by strumming a guitar?

Not if you’re deaf.

If strumming a guitar string could move walls by magic MonkMode.

My 13-year-old's bedroom would have collapsed by now.  Lol

Pressure isn't created by "massless sound."

It's created by the billions of air molecules.

And those do have mass, minuscule as it may be, vibrating and colliding with one another.

The guitar supplies the energy, the air molecules do the pushing.

Mystery solved, no paradox required...

Sounds are still sounds.

Even if you are deaf.

I mean they may not experience the sensation of hearing, but sound waves still exist physically nonetheless...

The pressure wave resulting from plucked strings, in a medium, is what moves the walls and air, causing sound.

Said slightly differently, the moving air and wall does not cause the pressure wave.  The moving air and wall is caused by the pressure wave.

If the air displaced just from vibrating a guitar string is all that creates sound, then sound would not travel through walls.

Both the medium and the vibrating string together create sound.

Sounds like a backwards explanation.

The pressure wave is not the cause of the air moving.

The motion of the molecules is the pressure wave.

And sound does not need to "exist separately" from the medium.

I think it is you who should stand corrected this time.

Again, just think of it intuitively, if the air displaced just from vibrating strings is all that creates sound, then sound would not be powerful enough to go through walls.

Reminds me of that nursery rhyme where the big bad wolf couldn’t blow down the little piggies house made of brick.

Blowing down something, as with wind pressure, is not the same as sound waves and/or continued sustained vibrational sound effects.
