The economic shift toward Asia is well explained by globalisation, Orby.
It's all about industrial policy, demographics, and dirt-cheap labor costs.
It's not some sort of secret plot.
And immigration is obviously an issue that needs consideration.
But describing migrants as flooding nations.
Or being used to replace populations is racist replacement rhetoric.
Not evidence.
And i think you may find that industrial decline, drug abuse, and factory closures also affect areas with little to no immigration.
All these problems and social issues rarely have one single villain to blame or conspiracy behind them.
They stem from a mix of issues and dilemmas that all lead back to poor education, inequality, and poverty.
Not immigration or replacement syndrome... I don't know what its like in Scotland but down here in England we are being invaded by immigrants. I'm sorry if you can't see it Andy but Trump can see it, Vance can see it, Jim Radcliffe also recently admitted to it using the very words "We are being invaded."
The government if it wanted could stop industrial transfer to the east and invasion of our island by foreigners, as could all the other governemnts in the West, yet they don't listen to the people and let the sh*t show continue. Immigration makes the world go around anyone knows that, but this is more than a trickle of skilled engineers coming our way from civilised backgrounds, it's an invasion of foreigners whose future contribution to our soceiety and way of life is questionable at best.
Trump is attempting to stop the invasion of the USA and is deporting foreigners while at the same time attempting to bring back the industries to America. To people in the UK who've seen our nations industries destroyed along with the communities that exist around them, only to be flooded with masses of thirld war immigrants, the likes of Trump and his policies are enlightening and a breath of fresh air.

It's like living in around the 4th largest city in the UK or thereabouts.
Glasgow is full of all sorts of different people Orby, it's not on par with London, but it's a mixing pot nowadays.
Mate, calling it an invasion is doing some pretty heavy lifting.
An invasion is what armies do, not people arriving on visas, work permits, student routes, or asylum claims.
Immigration is high, and people can reasonably argue it's too high.
But that doesn't magically make it an invasion.
The bigger problem is pretending immigration caused the likes of deindustrialisation, like we already discussed.
Our industries were hollowed out from the inside by the likes of Thatcher.
Never mind decades of political and economic decisions, automation, globalisation, and underinvestment.
Immigrants didn't shut the mines, steelworks, or factories, Orby.
That was your beloved Ironlady, and the Tories...
A reality check, deportations won't rebuild industry, communities, or economic resilience.
And i have to ponder who it is you think will prop up and run our beloved NHS beside the immigrants...

100%
LOL, I'm at the age where I had better make my retirement hay, I need 5 good years cause my Social Security barely covers rent if that. Saving grace I know millions my age are in the same boat.
For awhile we had Canadian and Australian manufacturers now its just a handful. Worked for companies from both countries a lot over the last 30 years. Very honorable hard working intelligent people, not a bad experience from any interaction in all those years.

We have less firms at our trade marts now, so less competition in our particular pond. Oh yeah it's got so much worse since Covid. That finished off so many firms whove been struggling since the 2008 financial clash, we had the extra nonsense of Brexit too where the lemmings decided to cut ourselves off from the worlds biggest market lol. You couldn't make it up. Supply chains have disintegrated, buying parts from the EU has bevcome a tediously long drawn out affair with paperwork, taxes, border checks. It's crazy, so many factories have closed because of this. We have sunk to unimaginable levels here in Britain, we have governemnts who are complicit in this decline, furthering socialist goals of having a workforce cast aside and on some form of benefits making the people dependent on government for thir very survival. Swathes of our once great nation destroyed, factories knocked down, to be turned into building sites for housing to fill with people on benefits and masses of thirld war immigrants who get the best benefits on offer, once they are shippped straight off the beaches into 5 star hotels. Masses of muslims everywhere, our cities are completely unrecognisable from when I was a kid, I never saw an asian being from the sticks til I was 13. Now virtually every person I pass is asian, most of them of the Musilim variety. You've never seen anything like this and every city in Europe is just the same, factories closing down and demolished, locals forced onto benefits while masses of thirld world immigrants descend into this environment. People like Andy, a nice guy for sure, just don't see this happening. The thing is if 'they' don't get a grip on this then we are heading towards a Bosnia / Kosovo style civil war in a few years down the line. A low level war is already in effect in many of our cities with whole neighbourhoods ethnically divided between muslims and Christian. Trump can see this as can Vance, even our greatest businessman Sir Jim Radcliffe acknowledged it recently along with it being impossible to have a successful economy with so many people on benefits, all the while everyone buries their head in the sand and ignores this slow drift into madness. That's why Trump is a breath of fresh air.

Where? I told the truth! You need to look back and see the ingredients for the rise of the Nazis etc in pre war Europe and educate yurself as to why it happened. Same ingredients, factories closing down, people suffer, then throw in a mass invasion of east European Jews. It's the same policy. Mark my words Oldcarpy, no good will come of this down the line!

Whose truth, Orby, the Daily Mail?
Have you ever considered the fact that the world is simply changing, and you don't like the way it looks?
No good will come from going after the people in the wrong boats, that's a given...
It's the super-rich and those who enable their shenanigans that are the real issue.
Not immigrants or people on benefits...

Quoted because it needs to read and realized by everyone.
Cant remember if I posted this here or elsewhere
We have a small run down shopping center in my old stomping grounds, hell it was run down then now its worse.
But it seems like its thriving there's 68 businesses there that offer EBT sign up, theres less than 20 addresses opened daily for real business the rest are there for the 500 bucks for every EBT issued. Do the maths (as the British say) every 50 persons signed up is 25 large that's from a metro area of 10.5 million. Immigrants are dropped off at various locations and told to apply for EBT and medical/health, gets sent in from a business address bada bing bada boom that person gets debit cards health care cell phones and they call all their
relatives. And the "business" gets $500 per person signed.

Educate yourself, Orby.
The Nazi playbook was to blame everything on certain races, demonize and dehumanise them.
Hmmm....sound familiar?
No good came of that down the line, did it?

Not immigrants or people on benefits... Changing? I never met an asian til I was 13. Well a Pakistani anyway, a Hindu at scholl from 11 yes. Virtually everyone in the cities asian now. Change? It's beyond change Andy. To quote jim Radcliffe "we are being invaded." Add to that the benefits people, yes they are bone idle. Super rich? Just an extension of the gov't they all pisk in the same pot.
