Well it appears to some here on DI that indeed you are left-wing if you disapprove of Trump.

Sadly, yes indeed.

I am apparently a lefty.

Yet, on ATS I was very anti Corbyn who was a real live actual lefty.

So, if I was a lefty it follows that I would have supported him.

Which I absolutely did not.

Please don't mention Dianne you know who either.... Shocked2

Thwarted again.

Sad budgie.

¹ Edit: your perceived context, via which you can derail discussion into any cul-de-sac you want

There are ways to present a post if you want a legitimate debate on a concept.

This post starts with attempt at insulting non-Trump supporters. A consistent method from this particular OP.

And as I have stated more than once on this board — anyone who throws a bunch of darts at a dartboard some are going to stick. But you can’t ignore those that fall to the floor.

Stephen Nagy may be Canadian but he’s in China. His perspectives seems to come from China. Not Canada.

What do I think of Trump?  I think he’s a “fools patsy” with handlers. Look deeper.

I’m not gonna dumb myself down for someone whose usual MO is to insult. His reputation precedes him.

But I will go fully read the article in question.

I’m anti-Bernie. He waited too long. His ship had sailed. Unrealistic in today’s “climate”.

But, Hey!  I am also apparently a lefty.

Cruelty alienates. Unpredictability frightens. Personalized grievance substitutes ego for strategy. Trump could be directionally correct about the failures of the old order while being catastrophically wrong about how to build a new one. These possibilities are not mutually exclusive.

I do not admire Trump’s methods. The cruelty is real, the damage to diplomatic relationships genuine, the risks of miscalculation heightened by his chaotic approach to statecraft. But strategy must be judged by whether it aligns with reality, not whether it pleases editorial boards or conference audiences. Carney offered a vision that earned applause in Davos. Trump offered threats that earned condemnation everywhere polite people gather. The question is which better describes the world as it actually operates – a world where middle powers can chart independent courses through rhetorical solidarity and institutional loyalty, or a world where power remains concentrated, choices remain binary, and countries like Canada must ultimately align with the great power on whose security and market access they fundamentally depend.

From article.

Now - of course - I could try to balance those paragraphs out with a more pro-Trump one.

But mostly it’s “see saw” — a what if he’s right. What if we need to “change the game”?

I love the blanket statement, binary only, black and white non fuzzy , non realistic projection so many people on here espouse.

I voted for Trump in 2020 but I didnt vote in 2024. I dont like what he is doing with technology and surveillance state and crypto.  I cant vote for that.
I do however lean conservative.

So I am neither wholly approving or disapproving of Trump.
Therefore I wouldn't fit into your little schema. And I know for a fact many people here wouldn't either.

Liking some 'MAGA' policies like hardline immigration enforcement and shaking up the FDA and vaccine schedules etc does not make me a conservative and
Disliking some 'MAGA' policies like building data centres, pushing for AI everywhere, and crypto bip klepto crap , does not make me a 'liberal' or Progressive.

Good for you.  I voted for “W” his first term.

I’ve stated I’m not Left for 20 plus years.

To some/many here — if you’re not Right of Right — you’re Left.

Still told I’m Left.

Works both ways.

I suppose because maybe you lean Left in your statements on the forum? I lean right.
But it doesn't mean we should go button-holing people as one or the other.
is that a word?

In the interest of fairness and to be true to my point,
Out of pure curiosity, in the last 8 years, what are some 'conservative' issues or laws, events, put forward that you agree with?

To make my post more well rounded, I will say that one issue put forth recently that I agree with, is keeping gay marriage legal.

I don’t actually talk my politics here or anywhere else online.

I stick mostly to social issues. And as I’ve said before my mom was a polio victim — we belonged to a disabled club. I learned early “People are their heart” — not their wrappings or anything else that might be deemed different.

Have you noticed I never said anything against deporting illegals — only the method being used.

I support legal ID’s. Also required for voting.

I own a gun.

I think schools should remove disruptive students and transfer them to a school run by the military/National Guard.

I support the death penalty. And am against revolving door criminals.

Gotta go. But there’s a few.
