Trump partnered Venezuela, and now is blockading Hormuz. And he's already got tankers lined up for hundreds of miles headed to the Gulf of America to buy US oil. This puts the US in control of a lot of the world's available oil supply, at least temporarily until Hormuz is settled. And that could take a while, or not get settled at all. It could descend into total chaos, with Iranian attacks, back and forth, until no one is going to want to transit there. The risk will be too great.
I gotta admit, did not see that coming. Iran said they were shutting down the strait, but Trump said yeah well we're gonna really shut it down with a total blockade. He's literally trumping Iran's trump card. While Venezuela gets up to speed, looks like a cat and mouse game in Hormuz for while. Meanwhile, US oil exports gonna go into the stratosphere.
The longer there is chaos in Hormuz, the more oil the US is gonna sell.
