Schoolyard witnesses in mass UFO sighting demand answers
#1
It remains the largest mass UFO sighting in Australian history, witnessed by more than a hundred students in broad daylight.

Sixty years later, through the eyes of the now-adult witnesses, Australian Story examines the enduring impact of that day and the efforts to make sense of it that followed.

The episode features new first-hand accounts and investigates several theories about what might have been behind the sightings.

I remember this one.

And to date i don't think it's been completely debunked or clearly explained away...

There are, however, some inconsistencies in the testimony.

But thats to be expected with young children.
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

Yes indeed, but you also have to remember that some of them saw it from different angles.

That's always a plus point in my book...

Seeing an object from different angles helps us understand shape, depth, and details.

Basically, spatial awareness.

Yes, but if one person sees an object from one angle, and another person sees it from another angle then they might disagree about what they saw.

Do you understand?

However, in this story the children and the teacher saw the same thing.

Thats just perspective at play.

It's not disagreement per se but a different....view.

Perspective always depends on where one is standing.

And i suppose that applies both physically and metaphorically...

This case is odd indeed, mostly because all witnesses were coerced into silence.

"The Westall UFO sighting near Melbourne is not located near a nuclear site, but the incident is linked to a high-altitude balloon program that monitored radiation from British nuclear tests at Maralinga, South Australia, which is hundreds of kilometers away.
  • The most prominent theory suggests the object was a HIBAL (High Balloon) balloon launched from Mildura to track nuclear fallout from Maralinga, which may have drifted off course to Westall.
  • Witnesses reported a silver, disc-shaped craft that descended behind trees at The Grange on April 6, 1966, followed by the arrival of men in suits and military personnel who allegedly instructed students to remain silent.
  • Researchers note that no official records confirm a balloon landed at Westall, and the Department of Supply has not released a comprehensive report despite Freedom of Information requests."

    --------

Some of the witnesses say that a game of 'cat and mouse' was being played out in the sky with the saucer-shaped craft and a smaller craft. Do weather balloons do that? /s

    ---

"Some claimed they watched as small aircraft circled the object mid-air, creating what one observer later described as a surreal “cat and mouse” chase.

The object was seen hovering near the school grounds for up to 20 minutes. It was then reported to have landed in a nearby field before lifting off again and vanishing."
