Then how did they know where to retrieve the egg? That must be how they found it no?

It got summoned, the connection dropped, the egg fell, and they knew where it fell.

Do you have another theory as to how this egg got found?

People watched the Chinese spy balloon float around the country as well as watching it crash. People have also watched weather styled balloons lose buoyancy and gently float down to the ground. In this video that was presented, it showed the egg shaped object hit the ground from the Helicopter. This means that the egg shaped object was in custody of the pilots flying the helicopter.

That is just an example, but I'm just pointing out that the video presented showed the egg being dropped from the helicopter and not being recovered. So this egg could be anything.
