Since the ritualistic tradition insists that 'royalty' is a "God-granted designation" I don't think 'the people' get a voice in who is or isn't royal.
The UK has been working this out for ages now...
I hope it does work out for them because, eventually... this is a wound of character (prestige) that will not simply "wash away." Too much is visible... too much is 'useful' to antagonists.
Antagonists everywhere will brew and percolate over the ways the rub this salt into the wound.
I think the idea of "bloodline royals" is a treacherous concept' that can kill nations, justify murderous cleansing, and devalues all those outside the line as "objects of lesser worth." It is not logical.
Incidentally... bloodlines aren't a fair 'control point' in any social construct... unless you believe...
