RANT - Changing Clocks Twice a Year
#11
The dumbest thing they did years ago was to do that time change stuff.  They knew before they passed the legislation that it messed with people's ability to think when they passed it, and according to an article I read and watched a video of from meetings in the government group that was assessing it, they were aware that it messed with people's thinking for a month, and figured it would keep society preoccupied more and less able to evaluate things the government did.  There was about five minutes of the movie clip some organization posted long before they could make alterations to movies like now.

Notice that the time change is right before elections most times?  Think about that for a while.

When is the spring time change?  Around the time your taxes are do.

Exactly what I was going to say.The reason I have always heard for daylight saving was so the kids didn't go to school in the dark.I know "oh the children".
Where in Aberdeen did you stay?
It's a crime to be outspoken!

I like the part of it where the sun sets later.

After the dreaded fall change the sunset immediately falls back to before 5 PM. And from Nov 21st through Dec 19th it sets before 4:45 PM and its depressing. It screws my brain chemicals and it makes me not like life as much.

Sunset just sticks around 4:44 for a month and rises later instead. I blame the tilted axis and orbital velocities for that.

The early morning daylight means nothing to me. Dont have a harvester to get to. I dont need to wake up that early, but the earlier sunset just makes me feel off until it stops setting so early.

I'd be willing to personally forgive UP TO 5 of Trumps fascisms if he used just one of his EOs to circumvent all the bureaucratic bullshit that makes ending the horrid time change so hard.

I live in the GMT +08:00, and guess what? its where most of our business comes from, so we find being in the same time zone as Beijing, Tokyo, KL, Singapore, Jakarta... but there are these "folk"  who live on the other side of Australia who demand we change our clocks when they do, but they think there is no existing 2-hour difference, and scumbags call me at 6am...

But every few years the "gentry" forces a "trial" on us and we keep saying NO.
I was not here.

I want it to stay DST. It gets dark around 9pm, and I love getting to have cookouts and activities later. Changing back to the other direction, it gets dark at 5:30 pm. Who actually likes it getting dark not long after getting off work if you work day shift...that sucks....Makes for a long long night.. And the biggest reason is the farmers have more daylight to do their farming. You can't use a tractor or rustle your cattle in the dark. We have a large farm and have cattle. It is just more convenient. I really don't care that it gets daylight at 7am in the winter months. But to each their own...

You could be getting your wish.

I work for the USPS and I want it to stay DST as well, it's a bitch delivering mail in the dark at 5PM in the winter.

Quote:President Donald Trump is championing the prospect of putting the kibosh on twice-annual clock changes by making daylight saving time permanent.

A bill to make daylight saving time permanent has been folded into a larger measure that the House Energy and Commerce Committee advanced in a 48-1 vote on Thursday.

"Big Vote today (48-1!) in the Energy and Commerce Committee on a Bill including The Sunshine Protection Act, which will be making Daylight Saving Time Permanent! This is so important in that Hundreds of Millions of Dollars are spent every year by people, Cities, and States, being forced to change their Clocks. Many of these Clocks are located in Towers, and the cost of renting, or using, Heavy Equipment to do this twice a year is prohibitive!" Trump wrote in a Thursday Truth Social post.
