YOU KEEP SAYING “CHRISTIAN VALUES”
but your actions don’t align,
You talk love, grace and mercy
then draw hatred in a straight lines.
I’m not religious these days,
so don’t mistake my tone,
But if you use faith as a weapon
don’t act shocked when it gets thrown.
You wave crosses like credentials,
like that ends the debate,
But since when did loving thy neighbour
come with borders, fear and hate?
You talk about “tradition,”
about morals, about “right,”
But cherry-pick the verses
that don’t challenge your skewed sight.
You quote faith like a headline,
out of context, out of place,
Skipping mercy, grace and humility
to justify your disgrace.
You pray loud for authority,
for power wrapped up in law,
but who will pray for you
when that power starts kicking in your door.
You call it order and values,
call it “standing your ground,”
But if love only works for your circle
then half the message must of got drowned.
You don’t need faith to clock this,
don’t need a scripture or proof,
When the loudest about righteousness
show the least amount of truth.
So keep your slogans and symbols,
your culture wars dressed as belief,
But don’t call it “Christian values”
when it looks nothing like decency.
