Nutball Epsicopal Bishop Tells Clergy to Be Martyrs Against ICE
#1
The Episcopals in New Hampshire have a problem.   The Bishop running their churches has lost his mind.   Anti-American and Anti-Law and Anti-Borders.   He's calling for Episcopalian clergy to lose their lives fighting against the American government and law enforcement.   I thought the Catholic Popes lately and American Catholic Bishops were bad ... wow ... this nutball tops even them.

Nutball Left Wing Episcopal Bishop Tells Clergy to Prepare for Martyrdom
Quote:The Rt. Rev. A. Robert Hirschfeld, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire, has issued a stark warning to the clergy in his diocese. He told them they need to get their affairs in order and prepare for the possibility of martyrdom while protesting ICE and its efforts to enforce immigration laws and stop illegal immigration, along with other acts of injustice.

Speaking to attendees at a candlelight vigil for Renee Nicole Good—the woman fatally shot by an ICE agent after she drove her vehicle toward him—Bishop Hirschfeld declared her a martyr for the cause and warned the Christians in the crowd that they might need to prepare themselves to do likewise.

I have told the clergy of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire that we may be entering into that same witness. And I’ve asked them to get their affairs in order to make sure they have their wills written because it may be that now is no longer the time for statements but for us with our bodies to stand between the powers of this world and the most vulnerable.

Jesus wasn't political.
Jesus said nothing about 'social justice'.
This 'bishop' is a mess.

Nutball Left Wing Episcopal Bishop Tells Clergy to Prepare for Martyrdom

Jesus said nothing about 'social justice'.
This 'bishop' is a mess.

You weren't kidding! I've formatted the transcription of his full speech so everyone can have a look at it:

Good evening. I am in such awe of what I just heard, as you no doubt are, and of the statements that have preceded my coming up. The statements that call for justice that are statements of deep sorrow and grief and that it's met with resolve and commitment to build a new world. I'm also coming to an awareness that the times of statements and the times of our eloquent words have reached a kind of limit sadly.

As someone who is a man of profound historical privilege, as one who has made statements that I have to say have been really good and eloquent, I love that for you. But have not moved the needle one bit. I want to speak briefly primarily to the Christians among us. We are now engaged in a horrible battle that is eternal that has gone on for millennia.

As soon as the Christian church became linked to the empire by Constantine in the year 325 or so, the church immediately became corrupt, and the message of Jesus's love, compassion, and commitment to the poor, the outcast was immediately compromised. And we have lost that voice. And we are now, I believe, entering a time, a new era of martyrdom. Renee Good being the last of note of those martyrs.

New Hampshire's own Jonathan Daniels, a man of also white privilege, stood in front of the blast of a sheriff in Haneville, Alabama to protect a young black teenager from a shotgun blast. He died and was martyed. We know of the women, the Marinel sisters who stood alongside the poor and the oppressed in El Salvador and were brutally raped and murdered. In the name of Jesus, Oscar Romero in a mass called upon the death squads of Al Salvador to lay down their arms or risk esque communication was martyed the next Sunday at the altar.

I have told the clergy of the Episcopal Dasis of New Hampshire that we may be entering into that same witness. And I've asked them to get their affairs in order, to make sure they have their wills written, because it may be that now is no longer the time for statements, but for us with our bodies to stand between the powers of this world and the most vulnerable.

And it may mean that we are going to have to in a new way that we have never seen in our perhaps in our lifetime except for these remote stories that I've just cited to put our faith in the God of life of resurrection of a love that is stronger than death itself. Amen.

There are those who call themselves Christians now who are very close to the seat of the highest echelons of power in this country who tell us that the way the world works is by force. We've heard it this week from Steven Miller. The clarity could not be more stark.

St. Paul in his letter to the Philippians said, "Let this mind be, let the same mind that was in Christ Jesus be in you, who though had every force in the world and could just lay a salt to the whole universe, chose instead to enter our humanity, to empty himself and to take the posture of weakness, of vulnerability, to enter even death, even death on the cross."

I'm speaking to the Christians, that's what we are to model because life, the life that God wants for us is stronger than what we see, the cruelty, the injustice, the horror that we saw unleashed in Minneapolis. And we've seen it so many other times. also in Minneapolis letly lest we forget but George Floyd. George Floyd. Say his name. George Floyd. Six blocks away. So that is my prayer.

Those of us who are ready to build a new world, we also have to be prepared. If we truly want to live without fear, we cannot fear even death itself.

My friends, and that is the stark truth of my faith. If I want to live and live with the fullness that God intends, I have to trust that God will always protect me and raise me as God, I believe, is bringing Renee good to glory right now. Amen. And I see that face of that glory among all of us who are here on this cold dark night. So I'll lead with I'll leave with a prayer.

Live without fear. You have been created holy in the image of the divine. Whatever race, whatever gender, whatever orientation, straight, queer, trans, you have been made in the image of the divine. God has always and will always protect you no matter what happens. So live in that fear. God supports you, protects you, and loves you with a power and a presence that is stronger than death. That is how we live free or die. Amen. And may the creator, the anointed, and the Holy Spirit uphold, give you courage and strength and compassion to live these days.

There is a new day ahead. It is coming. We can smell it. It is It is on its way. Let this light shine. The darkness, the shadows of our lives will not overcome it.

Anyway, anyone want to pick apart the theology? That should be fun.

This 'bishop' doesn't know Episcopalian.
And he has no clue Who Christ is.
Jesus was NOT political.
"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's" (Matthew 22:21).
And Christ said NOTHING about so called 'social justice' issues.
Slavery was alive and well during His time on Earth.  Yet He said nothing.

This guy is just a political activist hack who is using his position of
power over others to force them to be political activists ... pushing his agenda
of course.

'Say the name George Floyd' ... 'that's my prayer' he says.
Holy God on Earth this guy reeks.  He should be defrocked.

It depends on how you interpret Jesus' message.

"The Gospel of Jesus Christ, while not explicitly addressing political issues, carries profound implications for how we engage in the political sphere. The teachings of Jesus and the principles of the Gospel extend to justice, mercy, and humility, guiding us toward a society that reflects these values. Jesus' ministry was inherently political in its implications, challenging the status quo and prioritizing the needs of the marginalized. His message was about the transformation of the world, advocating for economic justice and peace. The kingdom of God, as proclaimed by Jesus, is for the earth and represents a world where God's reign is realized, free from the dominion systems of the world.

...challenging the status quo and prioritizing the needs of the marginalized...

...advocating for economic justice and peace....

Did everyone miss this message from the Bishops:

"The full text of the bishops’ Special Pastoral Message follows:
As pastors, we the bishops of the United States are bound to our people by ties of communion and compassion in Our Lord Jesus Christ. We are disturbed when we see among our people a climate of fear and anxiety around questions of profiling and immigration enforcement. We are saddened by the state of contemporary debate and the vilification of immigrants. We are concerned about the conditions in detention centers and the lack of access to pastoral care. We lament that some immigrants in the United States have arbitrarily lost their legal status. We are troubled by threats against the sanctity of houses of worship and the special nature of hospitals and schools. We are grieved when we meet parents who fear being detained when taking their children to school and when we try to console family members who have already been separated from their loved ones.

Despite obstacles and prejudices, generations of immigrants have made enormous contributions to the well-being of our nation. We as Catholic bishops love our country and pray for its peace and prosperity. For this very reason, we feel compelled now in this environment to raise our voices in defense of God-given human dignity.

Catholic teaching exhorts nations to recognize the fundamental dignity of all persons, including immigrants. We bishops advocate for a meaningful reform of our nation’s immigration laws and procedures. Human dignity and national security are not in conflict. Both are possible if people of good will work together.

We recognize that nations have a responsibility to regulate their borders and establish a just and orderly immigration system for the sake of the common good. Without such processes, immigrants face the risk of trafficking and other forms of exploitation. Safe and legal pathways serve as an antidote to such risks.

The Church’s teaching rests on the foundational concern for the human person, as created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27). As pastors, we look to Sacred Scripture and the example of the Lord Himself, where we find the wisdom of God’s compassion. The priority of the Lord, as the Prophets remind us, is for those who are most vulnerable: the widow, the orphan, the poor, and the stranger (Zechariah 7:10). In the Lord Jesus, we see the One who became poor for our sake (2 Corinthians 8:9), we see the Good Samaritan who lifts us from the dust (Luke 10:30–37), and we see the One who is found in the least of these (Matthew 25). The Church’s concern for neighbor and our concern here for immigrants is a response to the Lord’s command to love as He has loved us (John 13:34).

To our immigrant brothers and sisters, we stand with you in your suffering, since, when one member suffers, all suffer (cf. 1 Corinthians 12:26). You are not alone!

We note with gratitude that so many of our clergy, consecrated religious, and lay faithful already accompany and assist immigrants in meeting their basic human needs. We urge all people of good will to continue and expand such efforts.

We oppose the indiscriminate mass deportation of people. We pray for an end to dehumanizing rhetoric and violence, whether directed at immigrants or at law enforcement. We pray that the Lord may guide the leaders of our nation, and we are grateful for past and present opportunities to dialogue with public and elected officials. In this dialogue, we will continue to advocate for meaningful immigration reform.
As disciples of the Lord, we remain men and women of hope
and hope does not disappoint! (cf. Romans 5:5)

May the mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe enfold us all in her maternal and loving care and draw us ever closer to the heart of Christ."

Lol  No it doesn't.

The guy is a nutball.
Telling those under him that they need to get themselves killed
in fighting against the US Government, and against law enforcement.
He's nothing more than a far left indoctrinated political activist.
He should be defrocked.

And you quoted the Catholics, not the Episcopals.  The Catholic church
gets money for each and every illegal that they move around.   It's money
for them.   And they have no business telling a country that they can't
protect their borders.    F-them.

That's your interpretation of what he said.

What he said:

"I have told the clergy of the Episcopal Diocese of New Hampshire that we may be entering into that same witness. ---

Just the act of putting one's body between ICE and immigrants may get you killed, is not the same as saying be violent against ICE. Being non-violent may get you killed as evidenced with Ms. Good.

Lol   Your whitewash doesn't cut it.

I posted what he said, and so did Ultrabudgie.
He's a nutball far left political hack who wants
his underlings to fight his political battles to
their death.   "get your wills together'.  Fight the
US government. Fight law enforcement.
Fight for wide open borders.

He's a menace.   He's an abuser of people
under him.   He's got no clue what it means to
be Episcopalian and no clue what Christ's mission
on Earth was.

In short ... a tool.

The problem with the message from this individual is that it has been given a platform.

I can expound on my interpretation of Jesus’ teachings and how he supposedly lived his life through only what others wrote. I can pretend that I know exactly what he was thinking and speaking of, but again that is only my opinion…

Anyone who exhorts others to war or such acts better have their own ass on the front line. From Politicians, CEOs and Church Leaders.

I’m getting pretty tired of Leaders who instantly run away to another “safe place” while leaving their followers to be cannon fodder in situations that they have created.

They all appear to be the same to me. Military leaders who have never truly served, Church leaders screaming from their pulpits, etc.

If I were to use someone’s teachings, it would be someone who is alive now and whose opinion is directly affected by the situation in play. And not hide behind Church doctrine.

Meh, my 2 pesos…

Tecate

In short, I believe that this fellow is a douchebag…
If it’s hot, wet and sticky and it’s not yours, don’t touch it!
