I read up on Banksy. His stuff sells big time.

Why doesn't Royal Courts of Justice set up a viewing booth around it, and charge admission to look at it. The Courts can raise revenue, relieve the tax burden a bit or something.

Yeah, like bring back Legal Aid for the unmonied and a return to all being equal under the law.

Yes.  Legal Aid.  Is/was a bloody disgrace.

Get prosecuted by the State, win and you get your legal team paid by the State.

Oh, but only at pathetic Legal Aid rates.

(It's called Public Funding now).

You have to pay the difference.

Equal?

Absolutely not.

Disgraceful.
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope.  Nothing...

Will they detain Bansky for questioning? I doubt it.

Supposedly it's about the ban on Palestinian Action and the arrest of protesters because of the ban.

Why do you say Palestine and not generally the problem in the UK with immigration and sharia?

Because you are not allowed to talk about that in the UK or else get hit by the judge.

This is like the  "Girl Searching IDF Soldier" one in Bethlehem. In that vain of activism art (with opinion on full display).

Is it a broader statement on UK censorship, or in support of the group that damaged the air force base?

The artwork lacks the back story to know what its reacting to or what the broader statement is.

The backstory reads like the judge should be beating the fighter jet vandals more than the protesters in support of the vandals.

Is the message:

"This is what happens when you support the wrong group?'

The writing is literally on the wall.

You’re going to have to take a stand.
Revolution, now.
You’re not voting your way out of this.
Godspeed to my island cousins.

The writing is literally on the protester's placard, written in blood.

No need for a backstory! The overarching "statement" for this piece is the state of British justice.

As the article says, the painting does not depict any particular cause. It goes on to direct the reader to believe this has something to do with a protest group having been proscribed and the recent 900 protestors being arrested. I would say that event serves as catalyst only.

Official story is still that we have an impartial and independent judiciary.  Banksy's work directly challenges that precept and reflects how the judges are now just another strong arm, mere state apparatus.

The message is absolutely clear to anyone not trying to be too clever - Dissent will not be tolerated.

Okay I think got it...

But at least its applies to both sides now?

So the Judge is beating both the militant pro-palestine activists and the EDL racists that think all crime is a because of muslim immigrants?  Is it just the extremes of the spectrum getting whacked with the mallet?

Does this also relate to "criminalisation" of hatespeech? And is there any one side whose opinion is being targeted more?

Comes off a little like the judicial is getting sick of policing American-styled viral stupidity on all sides.

Maybe the UK is performing a balancing act of F35 parts, long ties with Israel, or cultural islamaphobia and antizionism (with militant divestment activists).

In any case, I am very sorry you're no longer allowed dissent in public opinion. I would be lost without that.

I think we were ingrained to have more of the recoil we did after covid. 2 years of restriction and policing misinformation on vaccines and we elected a guy who installed a batshit crazy antivaxer to head the CDC.

Looks like they may go after Bansky to unmask his true identity, to perhaps teach him a lesson?

"Criminal damage carries a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment if it causes more than £5,000 of damage.
Offences where the damage is worth less than £5,000 have a maximum sentence of three months or a £2,500 fine."

Banksy artwork shows judge attacking protester

Bansky can just pay the fine and not serve jail time because really? how much would it cost to wash off his statement piece? Certainly not over 2,500 pounds.
"The only journey is the one within."
