My compulsion for lists, listing, and de-listing drives me mad sometimes...
I have a real problem spontaneously listing things in "top however many" groups because there is always some internal objection about context and mood that makes me hesitate.
Sometimes what my number 1 is, can only be declared conditionally...
I'm not consistent... today's list might include "Cleopatra" or "Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe"... and include Rashomon, instead of Seven Samurai... And of course I'd have to admit... it's just as likely to change next Thursday... and the mood might strike me to mention Becket, or Gone with the Wind.
There are also many newer films that might pop on and off my "answer" top ten list...
As you can probably tell, I am incapable of a generic list... but ... if you can make it by genre, production periods, documentary, comedy, drama, romance... well... I'm sure we can work something out.
