Quote:Set in the late 1960s, Billy Jack is a half-white, half-Indian ex-Green Beret Vietnam vet-turned-pacifist, and Hapkido expert (a combination of Tae Kwon Do and Aikido) who having gotten in touch with his Native American roots returns from the war to take up residence on a reservation outside a conservative Arizona town ... The American Film Institute recognized Billy Jack as a 'hero', within the narrow criteria of hero vs. villain, IMO, but I was taken aback as to the absolute vicious violence that a supposed pacifist can muster up. Yeah, but it was righteous, and just violence and viciousness was needed to drive the point home. We went and saw it in the theaters when it first came out, and my Mom had the same concerns. Growing up we lived next door to a younger couple with a baby Tom and Debbie and the Husband got drafted. 1-2 years later he was about to go on leave and his jeep hit a mine and he lost his left arm. My Dad hired him once he recovered and he worked for Dad for a while, Dad said he was the happiest one-armed person he had ever seen. We listened to quite a bit of his stories of Vietnam and what a sham it was. For a lower-class white family in the South we were more liberal than most, probably because of neighbors like Tom

My Vietnam vet friend had PTSD and it was sad and tragic to watch as there really wasn't any mental health treatment that worked. War..what is it good for? Any way, enjoy the music, I have to go see my medical care provider to see what's what.

I think I'm getting better, but I got an antibiotic prescription and put it on hold, just in case it turns around. Ah, drugs, thank God we got 'em or I'd be a gonner. I think I will fill that prescription because it's a type of antibiotic that we can use on our cats, it's actually the same thing vets use, and there is a new stray cat hanging around so I may need to give it a 3 day's dose, just for good measure. While shopping yesterday a couple cashiers were coughing, so I asked them if they are sick, they told me they are fighting something off and so are some of their friends. It may be just the time of the season where virus/bacteria flourish, I guess. Let's not worry, until we have to. Bob Dylan explanation of the meaning of this song; Quote:Then they do a big exposition based on this utter rubbish explanation. Dylan claims it’s nonsense. Because it’s about drugs. All that pretentious “earth father” Bullshit, is bullshit. Most songs from the '60s early '70s are about freedom, love, or drugs. (Edit to add: and of course 'sex' not the same as love)

I believe that some home remedies can lessen or prevent some infections, Ive ended tooth infections with honey garlic, oregano, onions, and turmeric but I reek of northern Italy still, there are times when you need the real stuff... As for music...

Thanks Putnam, one of my fav quotes (...the beat goes on...) for everything that never changes:
Quote:There's a consensus that the title means the fact that time keeps marching forward, no matter what fads come and go. The beat itself could be a heartbeat or a musical beat. As for oregano, supposedly the most effective strain comes from the wild plants that grow in Greece.
