So now, my asking if you are posting from the pub is a personal attack?

Apologies, I thought you were a rugby player and had a bit thicker skin. I forget you live in hyper sensitive bat shit bonkers Britain

If we have any future interactions, I'll try and be more gentle and soothing in our discussions.

I hope you have a pleasant evening and sweet dreams [Image: vegemite.gif]

Bless you.  Maybe you might even deign to address the points I make in a civil manner?

Would be nice.

Respectfully,

Trump's past bankruptcies and casinos were brought up, as if it were germane to the topic of the thread, which is generally tariffs.

It was identified and deduced that your use of these past failures was a likely indication that you had no relevant "points" to be made to the current 2025 topic of tariffs. So far, the contrarian evidence is few and far between and consists predominantly of the aforementioned WCSWNFB.

Thus, the inquiry is about possibly enjoying the local pub scene.

No.  You brought up "The Art of the Deal". Short term memory problem?

LOL so what? I casually bring up "The Art of the Deal," which is what is occurring now, trade deals

I brought it up because of the new tariff deals with China UK and India and others, with the emphasis on "deal", because so many here have been frightened and fearful that no deals were on the horizon and the 145% tariffs will be permanent and our economies will be ruined, leading to war, famine, death and destruction.

This thread is so full of frightened, worried posts, it's hilarious.

But it is indicative of how out of touch with the reality of international trade and commerce everyone is, myself included.

It's disengenuous or plain naive, on one hand, to truly believe the world is influenced heavily by corporations and they own many politicians, and on the other hand, to believe those same corporations won't pressure politicians from all countries to negotiate trade deals ASAP.

End of the day, all that matters, who's thoughts from 30 days ago are closer to thier reality, This could be why listing Trump's past failures is soothing and comforting to some egos, while others are just discussing the ramifications of the new deal

There is no new deal yet with China so there are no ramifications to discuss. I don't consider chaotic stocks rising and falling as anything to go by at this point in time.

Where is India and the other 198 countries, Trump has said he is in discussions with? Crickets.

Once the talks begin, everything falls into place, a huge deal for Boeing and Seattle

And "de minimis" tariff cost being slashed is huge for my industry and a lot of others; this will help the smaller firms quite a bit.

Flat rate $100 bucks starting May 15th, 90 days takes us into August, past our spring 26 markets. So, no delays or price increase on samples, huge expense for all firms

No price increases are scheduled at all, and once we reinstate those orders that were put on hold, it will be like Servepro.

The cherry on top, the icing on the cake, will be how low the landed costs will go, and if our brand labels can be sold in China

I surely hope other industries and sectors are as fortunate.

May 13, 2025 5:51 am
China has lifted a ban on domestic airlines accepting new Boeing aircraft, a report said Tuesday, after Beijing and Washington agreed to temporarily lower tariffs in a major de-escalation of their trade war.
Last month the American aircraft maker confirmed that Chinese airlines had stopped accepting delivery of new planes due to huge tit-for-tat levies imposed by both sides.
But Bloomberg News reported Tuesday that Chinese officials have begun to tell domestic carriers they can resume orders of US-made aircraft, quoting people familiar with the matter.
Boeing did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The news comes after the two countries announced Monday they would drastically reduce tariffs for 90 days, as well as continue negotiations.
Washington’s fresh duties on many imports from China had come to 145 percent, while Beijing had hit back with duties of 125 percent on US goods.
Monday’s announcement after talks in Geneva saw the United States lower tariffs to 30 percent, and China reduce its own to 10 percent.
US President Donald Trump dubbed the outcome a “total reset” and said talks with counterpart Xi Jinping could soon follow.
The company had planned to deliver around 50 aircraft to China in 2025, its chief executive Kelly Ortberg said last month.
China’s foreign ministry also did not respond immediately to a request for comment.

White House executive order Monday slashed the "de minimis" tariff on China shipments to 54% from 120%, with a $100 flat fee starting May 14. It served as the latest in a broad thawing of trade-war tensions between the US and China, after the two powers paused most tariffs for 90 days and sent markets into euphoria.

There is no signed deal with China, they only agreed to discuss the trade deal in more depth in the near future.

China is not commenting on any of this so you need to hear both sides to get the full picture.

Look for some high-level talks...and hopefully some more beneficial trade agreements
