Meteor impact on the moon(?)
#1
I recently was 'algorithmically' gifted a clip (a YouTube short.)

Because I have worked myself into being distrustful and skeptical of internet clips like this - I wonder if it's real.

A - CGI/AI conceived and executed?

B - Given the moonscape in the image, can this impact site be localized (by us) to verify the impact?

C - Preexisting craters would show evidence of such an impact...

D - This seems pretty awesome to capture like this....

Do you think it's real?  Should I?

I haven’t heard anything about it.  The image looks really clear if it was from an earth based telescope.  There should be a heat haze from our atmosphere.  Something like the below.

Just my first impression.

I've gotten so hesitant with the now "standard" media use of what, on another planet, might be called "art."
But I lose respect when the art is befouled by some misrepresentation... as in, "it's not really fake."

I expect to see this used for many 'messages' and only a few 'intents.'

Still... it's an impressive theoretical impact...

It looks fake.

We see the shadow of the "meteor", and when it hits the surface it sends dust in the air, but the shadow remains the same a it was at the moment of impact.

Also, lower gravity would be the dust would be projected very high, and that doesn't happen.

As has been mentioned, the shadow just stops falling at the instant of contact as if the object just stopped.

And then there is the reaction of the surface, the farthest rim of the crater it hits reacts to the impact faster than the floor. There is no air to propigate the shock wave on the Moon and that would make all reactions to the impact have to be in the surface material itself.

I am thinking this is fake having viewed it zoomed in  on a tablet at slow speed.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?
