You just read my mind! I want my homemade Fireball to be somewhat syrupy and I was considering half sugar and half honey to get the texture I want. The anise isn't a choice for me because I don't care for the black licorice taste but interestingly enough I saw one recipe that called for the garam masala spice which, to me, is heavy on the star anise, and one I don't use for anything.
I've never tried Drambuie, is it syrupy/sugary? What is the taste like?
Mulled wine is always a good idea at Christmastime as is a chef's protective glove for those who are cooking and drinking at the same time.
So I am mostly thinking about my foodie wants and have been given the job of making a cherry compote for topping my daughter's delicious cheesecake which we will enjoy on the day. Just wondering if I should add Grand Marnier, which I have, or buy Kirsch as many recipes call for. Decisions decisions. She also requested I use fresh cherries, so I will be busy pitting cherries - normally I use frozen fruit for compotes as the fruit is already mushy and cooks faster.
I am wishing everyone the joy the season can offer.

Thinking about how our little decisions can drastically change our lives.
Two years ago, I got a personal trainer at the gym for several reasons -- I find free classes frustrating because (scoliosis) I can't do some of the exercises and thus don't get the full benefit. It's also easy to slack off and then quit. But if I'm paying someone, they can modify exercises so I can do them (or work the same group of muscles) and if I'm paying, I will show up.
The results? I no longer need a cane for walking (my osteologist said "basically, your knees are crap" and has shots available if I need them) and my knee pain is minimal. And the cardiologist reported that my heart is stronger than most people's my age.
I'll be seeing a dietician soon to work on my diet and expect similar good results in the future.
Little things, folks... little things.
And a Merry Christmas/Happy Solstice/Festive Festivus/Light-filled Hannukah/Delightful Kwanzaa (etc) to everyone!

I too have later-in-life scoliosis, among other things, and find yoga and other gym/formal exercises really do not accommodate our condition. Even some physical therapists don't understand how to work around the condition. I do my own thing and push according to how my body reacts, if it hurts, I don't do it.
You are right, little things and little progressions are big accomplishments.
A surgeon warned me about my heart but I find if I do my dance routine on a higher aerobic level for a short time, I believe that I am giving my heart muscle the workout it needs. I could be wrong, but I feel good during and afterwards. I also read somewhere where a 12 minute aerobic workout is associated with cardiovascular health vs. other forms of exercise.
I use CBD cream for my osteoarthritis, which is mild, but some days is total torture. It helps ease the pain.
I am glad your efforts have paid off. Merry Christmas Byrd.

Technically, science itself is not something that can be perverted... if science (fact) is perverted, it's either not 'scientific,' or it's not complete.
Science doesn't try to control things, people however, try often.
But I agree that what we "see" of science reporting is frequently far from a search for truth, but instead a 'persuasive production.'
