Lunar Hotel Expected By 2032
#1
US company says it expects to have a lunar hotel operating by 2032.
I think that is a wildly ambitious date.
And the logistics would be incredible.
But good for them having ambition and the drive to make it happen.

This is a US start up company with very young leadership.
I dont' see it working out ... but then again I didn't see
SPACEX working and it did so ... you never know.

The hotel is inflatable.   So what happens if there is a leak?
Do the guests have to be qualified to do space walks and repair?
The price tag is huge so finding people who have that kind of
money AND the smarts to be able to function in the hotel
seem kind of remote to me.

Lumar Hotel by 2032

Quote:US startup Galactic Resource Utilization (GRU) Space is planning to build a resort on the Moon, ready to receive guests in six years.   It is currently asking hopeful space tourists to pay a £750,000 ($1million) deposit to secure a five-night stay, which may end up costing more than £7.5million ($10million) in total.

The firm is backed by investors who also invested in Elon Musk's SpaceX. It is also part of the Nvidia Inception Program. Its initial plan is to construct an inflatable space hotel on Earth and land it on the lunar surface in 2032.  The structure aims to accommodate four guests, who will stay in rooms overlooking the stars for five nights.

The plan is to equip it with air recycling and oxygen generation, water recycling, temperature control, emergency escape system and radiation shelter for solar storms.  Designed to operate for 10 years, the firm intends to offer guests experiences such as Moonwalking, rover driving - and even rounds of low-gravity golf.

I hope it works out for them.
I've said for a long time we need to concentrate on getting off this rock and spread out to other planets/moons because all it takes is one solar flare or asteroid to send us back to the Dark Ages.

That being said, people WILL die taking those first steps.

An inflatable Hotel?  On the Moon?

What could possibly go wrong?
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope.  Nothing...

I mean i would love to see it happen.

But im not holding my breath.

Additionally, all the problems we have down here on Earth, and they want to build luxury hotels on the Moon???

I'm apt to ponder it's their brains that are inflatable...
"Yet so it is, we see the illiterate bulk of mankind that walk the high-road of plain common sense, and are governed by the dictates of nature, for the most part easy and undisturbed. To them nothing that is familiar appears unaccountable or difficult to comprehend."

When the Moon tourists return to Earth, wouldn't it be fun if they were met by folk dressed in Ape suits?

yeah, that's what I was thinking.  One micro meteorite and what would the space tourists do when the whole thing collapses?   They aren't trained ...

That's not a moon.

Seems rather pie in the sky optimistic

But...

I love the innovative drive to do it and I pray more people will catch the pioneering spirit that young man has embodied.

We have had self sealing gas tanks for aircraft since WW2 so I would assume a small puncture would be manageable even though you are probably dealing with an entry and exit tear. I would rather be underground and come outside for a round of lunar golf than stay on the surface.

What would you do there?, theres no bars or pubs, and the hire cars are supposedly just old Jeeps.
I was not here.
