Like Writing A Bike
#1
I just bought a mountain bike. There's lots of great desert trails in the foothills where I live.

I wanted a kayak, but my suv got totaled and I drive a toy car without a rack now. The choice seemed obvious.

I haven't been on a bike since I was about 8 years old but couldn't really ride anywhere except to the nearest shops for snacks and baseball cards.

This thing is a behemoth!

Had to go with the 29 inchers because the other one felt way too small. I hopped on and my knees were brushing my chin. Will be swapping out the seat because this one came defective with a padded banana to straddle.

Got the helmet. Already had the pump--and with some simple modifications it should be ready for a tire in no time!

I thought I was way too macho for the elbow and knee pads but after taking it out for a whirl I didn't realize I have to gear up and gear down, got my legs all pretzeled, and almost got hit by a pickup.

Heading back to the store for the pads..

Hopefully I can update this thread with some pics in the coming days and weeks.

I'm so excited!

Last bike I had was a Triumph at Uni.  Push bike.  My stoned biker mate looked it over.  "Man, is that a 250cc Tiger Cub"?

Oh dear.

When a boy, I had a  purple Raleigh Chopper bicycle.  Was cool.
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope.  Nothing...

Been into mtb for a good few years now, it’s bloody great fun and brilliant for your health. Except when you come a cropper which is why the pads are needed. The main thing I like about it, is it forces you to get in the zone, you are focused on that one thing only and everything else falls away.

@SurferSoul

It’s really good for your body and brain. After a good ride your body is still burning calories.
Be kind to everyone!

After a good ride my legs take two days to recover at least!

The rides can be fantastic

The join between rider and bike can become so natural as to
be able to say without hesitation
you become one.

On the flip-side of that wondrous sensation..
the injuries....
oi...

("Flip side,"... nudge nudge, wink, wink.)
