She presents facts in an interpreted worldview that makes her viewers feel good about themselves, and informed. All with an admixture of capitalist grift and product sales. She's quite open about it in the podcast discussion.
I don't really have a grudge against her, so I won't go so far as to call her a mid-wit whore. She's simply not relevant to me.
She's #4808 on the list of people valuable to the attention-economy that you linked to. It's fun to read the most valuable:
https://attentionocracy.com/top/people
Again, I'm not saying we would have a better society if that list was instead the waiting line for the woodchipper. But I suppose folks can have their opinions.
Well what she has brought to the journalistic table was such that they awarded her for her efforts.
I am impressed with her being mentioned in the 2025 Courage in Journalism Awards.
IWMF Announces Winners of the 2025 Courage in Journalism Awards - IWMF
"The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) will recognize eight extraordinary leaders whose vision and impact are shaping the future of media and entertainment at the 2025 Gracies Leadership Awards, taking place November 18 at Tribeca 360° in New York City. Among this year’s distinguished honorees, award-winning journalist Katie Couric will receive the prestigious Gracies Icon Award, and Michelle Duke, President of the NAB Leadership Foundation and Chief Impact Officer at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), will be honored with the AWM Legacy Leadership Award."
"“Each honoree embodies innovation, leadership, and the profound influence women continue to have across every facet of media,” said Becky Brooks, President of AWM/F. “This year, we are especially proud to present the Gracies Icon Award to Katie Couric, who was the first woman to solo anchor a network evening newscast and has continued to shape the evolving media landscape as founder of Katie Couric Media. Recognizing her, along with Michelle Duke and six additional exceptional leaders, is a powerful reminder of why the Gracies Leadership Awards exist: to celebrate those whose vision and impact are reshaping our industry and inspiring its future.”"
------------
She must be doing something right according to those in her field who I would hazard a guess know what's what when it comes to journalism and who are exceptional leaders therein.

Katie is getting honored all over the place.

"Katie Couric also helped dedicate the Emily Couric Clinical Cancer Center at UVA Health in 2011, saying at the time, “I am so thrilled this facility exists. I think it’s such a beautiful reflection of my sister’s spirit and I think she would be so pleased to know how many people she continues to help.”
Katie Couric’s portrait is hanging on the first floor of Clemons library. It is part of the President’s Portrait Series, which highlights people who have made significant contributions to the University. Other honorees include Cynthia Goodrich Kuhn, a 1973 graduate and first female Lawn resident, and long-serving economics professor Ken Elzinga."

That's like when FOX gives out the 'Patriot Awards' only to people who think just like them.
That's like when the Oscars are given out by left wing Hollywood to left wing Hollywood.
She gets an award from those who are partisan just like she is.
She's a partisan talking head for the left.
Just like Hannity is a partisan talking head for the right.

Trump's brand eats other brands for breakfast.
Her brand has a glass of wine for lunch, then scrolls Facebook to see what opinions to pretend to have.
TRUE!
Katie Couric branded herself.
She's a partisan talking head personality instead of an actual investigative journalist.
But her brand is weak.
You are right.
Trump is the king of branding.
When she has her own line of watches, steaks, sneakers, etc. then she'll be at
the same brand level as Trump.

How would you know, you never listen to what she has to say?
Katie's other awards that are not partisan. Sorry, you are wrong again.
"Katie Couric Awards and Nominations

She has also been recognized for her work with the Shorty Awards, where she accepted the award for Best Journalist at the 8th Annual Shorty Awards. She can give to cancer all she likes and get awards for that ... doesn't change the fact that she's a partisan hack when it comes to the news. And you convince no one by showing left wing 'journalists' giving other left wing 'journalists' awards. It's all partisan.

Yet they don't, why? because it's about leadership and excellence and very few have what it takes.
No smear campaign can tarnish her reputation at this point. It's interesting to see DI MAGA cherry pick those they think are Democrat talking heads, when they clearly are not, who have the courage to criticize Trump and his actions as well as their own party. It's so predicable here, it's getting boring guys.

Trump’s done more for humanity than KC has ever done. He should definitely be getting the Nobel Peace Prize, right? Can’t think of anyone else that deserves it anymore than he does.
I mean if the NYT and Wa Post are winning Pulitzer prices for the Russia-gate hoax it only seems fitting. Hell the left will give awards for ANYTHING. Award ceremonies are a joke.
I remember when Jethro Tull beat out Metallica for best Heavy Metal album of the year and Abba was voted into the R&R HOF when bands like Kiss, Rush, Bad Co, etc weren’t even nominated. It’s not hard to see those types of award shows for the farce they are, journalism awards are even worse. So, gradulations KC for winning your popularity contest, it certainly wasn’t done on merit. LOL
Apparently I’m in cult now, someone here told me so.
