Katie Couric Criticizes 'Bothsidesism'

I remember her throwing a hissy fit about people who said she was cute and perky.  Lol

What matters next is our moral judgment.

Knowing right from wrong.

Or at least being willing to seriously ask that question, is what turns facts into wisdom.  Saint2

I think with the current political polarization and the mix of one's moral judgment directly connected to ego, getting the facts is an exercise in looking at (not exploring) all the facts then taking a defensive knee jerk stance back to one's respective corner. It looks like it just can't be done in any objective way.

Appearing on Tuesday's installment of "The Grill Room" podcast, Couric decried the current backlash against the "expert" class, saying she loves talking to people "with a deep well of knowledge" about specific issues.
"So what I try to do, and what we try to do, is help people stay abreast of everything that's happening, which is increasingly difficult given the velocity of things that are thrown at us primarily by this administration," Couric told host Dylan Byers. "But I try to understand and give them some perspective and context and help explain in some cases why people need to be aware and concerned about some of the things that are happening in this country."
"And I think the era of kind of bothsidesism or just the facts — and by the way, just the facts without context, without examination, I don't think people really want that."

It's clear to me that these types of award-winning, very popular, seasoned media journalists/personalities that criticize Trump or his actions, in any way, elicit, first and foremost, defensive attitudes from the MAGA and right, which is a shame that they are unable to even consider another possibility behind Trump's true goals - not anti-war, not helping the working class, not releasing the Epstein files, etc. as were his campaign promises. I'm not sure why that's okay with some MAGA, it's nonsensical because she also criticized Kamala Harris over her word salads.

And, boy oh boy, is she popular.

So I can only surmise that because she is so very popular and has a platform where she tries to find out Trump's true motives, and also some Democrat motives, that a smear campaign must now be waged against her and others like her.

No.   She just sucks.
Totally partisan like most so called 'journalists'.
She thinks people want to hear her partisan opinions rather than just straight facts.
She's full of herself.
That's not 'smear' .... that's just reality.

What has she brought to the table as a journalist? Her product seems to be herself, as a "presenter". She presents facts in an interpreted worldview that makes her viewers feel good about themselves, and informed. All with an admixture of capitalist grift and product sales. She's quite open about it in the podcast discussion.

I don't really have a grudge against her, so I won't go so far as to call her a mid-wit whore. She's simply not relevant to me.

She's #4808 on the list of people valuable to the attention-economy that you linked to. It's fun to read the most valuable:

Again, I'm not saying we would have a better society if that list was instead the waiting line for the woodchipper. But I suppose folks can have their opinions.

That boils down to the fact that being truly objective means risking being wrong or uncomfortable.

And most people don't like to feel uncomfortable or wrong.

Well, as I said in a subsequent post that Couric did criticize Harris' word salad type delivery, which would indicate that she was willing to go both ways. But, you are right and I am right, that ego plays a big part in rejecting someone like her who tries to make both sides look at motives and context.

Yes, but not "just like Trump".

Trump's brand eats other brands for breakfast.

Her brand has a glass of wine for lunch, then scrolls Facebook to see what opinions to pretend to have.
