Just now from the White House press briefing, given the opportunity for diplomacy, Trump will make his decision in the next two weeks.

Hopefully cooler heads prevail, this isn't our fight, and it couldn't come at a worse time.

In two weeks time, it will be the 4th of July!

The ultimate firework display... even though I hope for some kind of diplomatic resolution.

Was it not claimed, fairly recently, that Iran could possibly assemble a nuclear weapon "within a couple of weeks"?

At this point, it would not suprise me in the least if Iran has actually thrown together at least a few, crude (by modern standards) nuclear devices and is only waiting on an opportunity to deliver them....reliably.  Wouldn't want to waste the "kill shot(s)", would they? Not with untested, and therefore unproven, warhead designs.

Especially since such an act would likely result in both personal, and national suicide, as well.

Of course, with "friends" like Russia and China, Iran might have been privy to much more advanced, and proven, weapon designs, as well.

Almost like someone is deliberately "setting the stage" for a "big show".

A show to which no one would want front row tickets!

All it would take is a US position or ship to get hit, and that could happen from any of the rogue factions over there, and then everyone will say it was Iran.

I don't think it would be as easy as they say. Just like Iraq wasn't a "cake walk". A lot of the driving forces behind this are the same ones who called for war decades ago. I don't trust any of them one bit.

After testing bunker-busting bombs in Yemen, US military remains doubtful about successfully striking Iran’s nuclear sites.

CENTCOM sources say Iran’s facilities are much deeper and better protected, and recent strikes in Yemen were ineffective at best, useless at worst.

Let's assume that post is wrong about the bunker buster not living up to it's expectations... We still couldn't successfully put down the Houthis with years of bombing campaigns. It's one of the poorest nations on earth, and the Houthis aren't even a true military.

So if we can't take them out with just airstrikes, what makes us think we could do it "easily" with one of the oldest nations on earth, of 90m~ people? Are they weak? Sure. Are they more established than Afghanistan or Iraq was? Probably.

CENTCOM is the bane of every other MAJCOMs existence. Every time we start to try to shift weapons somewhere else, something happens in CENTCOM, and everything goes there instead. There are so many jokes about CENTCOM getting everything and everyone else being beggars it isn’t even funny.
