I know someone has to pay for the aircraft controllers and TSA security.  But you would think it would be a more direct cost from air travelers through the airport where a government shutdown wouldn’t impact their pay?

From airports, milk, NFL stadiums, the fight to not subsidize insurance companies, how much of the US economy is propped up by deficit spending.   The level of smoke and mirrors to crony capitalism is very unsettling.

As for prepping with food bank items for you and your teenage grandson. I just had my son, his wife, and her 14 year old son stay over. I have to tell you, that boy can eat a lot of food. He was popping hard boiled eggs and deviled eggs into his mouth like they were M&Ms. Then everyone complained that I didn't make enough.

I don't know about the people in your country but in mine, during emergencies people step up to help the food banks by donating more.
