It is kind of scary the shallowness of the debate in other platforms, but we can only do so much.

tangentally i think there are at least three factors involve in this, any of which would make a great thread here

1. no one want to feed an ai arguebot that will just gisgallop the discussion
2. debate never seems to actually change things, political power appeals directly to emotions now
3. people are getting stoopider

anyway let's have fun regardless i very much like forums with this that don't algofilter posts! feeling like your connecting with actual people. also there is good variety here although many olds.

What you mean by the AI thing, is it a good or bad thing? I managed to get meaningful proposals from AI whenever I engage deeply and provide very large context. I know ppl basically uses for rubbish, or do not provide enough context for discussions etc...

it can be programmed to act like a person and reply to comments. look at many of the newspaper articles and social media sites like reddit. some people estimate that by now more than half of those comments are from ai-powered bots posing as people. the bots are trained using huge collections of pre-existing comments from sites, and instructed to make posts that will sway opinion or engage with people to occupy their attention, or make it seem like majority opinion is different than it really is.

I read that, but I disagree, I think only a few are. 
Man, facebook is so much worse than reddit, I can't believe it. The post fakes the whole day.
