A late welcome to the Deny Ignorance forums. I still think about the odd ATS members who opted not to join us on Deny Ignorance, but I hope they find their way here.

ATS was fine in it's day before the new Admin screwed it, but you'll find a lot of the same folks here. 

In some ways, DI is better. We can say fuck and not have DTOM spanking us.


Side note : I've had warnings from other Mods, but if it's DTOM, I feel like it's my Mom standing there with her arms crossed and that "I'm not mad I'm just disappointed" look on her face.

Grown ass 61 year old man and I still feel guilty.

I miss it too, not that there's anything wrong here aside from a not great mobile experience, but what are you gonna do? I don't run a website, so I have no frame of reference on the difficulty.

You know what?  It is really difficult for someone like me... who finds handheld devices incapable of being useful (older eyes, older hands) to relate...

I know that 'mobile devices' represent a coding challenge (again, I also can't relate to).

I thought maybe there might be some open-source usefulness out there to help us, but I don't know the right questions to ask for it to be realistically addressed...

Deny Ignorance in in full day-to-day mode, lacking an executive officer, as well as the resources to relax about it.  We can't buy a solution.

Ironically, it also relieves us from the current 40% bot(ulism) infection - oddly because we're dying before their eyes.... (May it always seem so.)  Shades of World War Z, eh?

ATS was an incredible resource and outlet for me and I am forever grateful to all those web stars that founded it and kept it going through some harrowing times. The arguments on there became the non-mechanical reasons for it's downfall, despite the heroic efforts from moderators like DTOM who understood the human psyche well enough to defuse most of the worst abusers.

This site is a wonderful change, and it's design is much more conducive to rational and intelligent discussion. 

I also wish that many of the ATS residency will come back and perhaps many eventually will.

So.... back to the OPS original post..... What is the idea you wanted to discuss?

With my apologies to the OP... I just can't allow such a kind post to pass without a direct and explicit thank you from all those who have spent so much of themselves to keep this virtual place available to the community....

and begging the indulgence, it is the community itself that endures... ATS was a long-time home, I wept to lose her...

Deny Ignorance was a direct homage to ATS... a flare for a community members to be aware of...

Many came... and slowly the community coalesces once again... but now with some wonderful newcomers... who may actually want to be community members... to discover why ATS was head-locked by marketing and commerce.   Our community became the 'object' of someone else's calculus.

Here 'we' are, I dare declare!  Screw them if they can't take the joke... ('the joke' being them.)
