It was sold from the 'gov' operator (contractor) to a rube, and then allowed to die.  It had outlived it's usefulness, with the migration to Social Media Slop

I have a hard time believing the world's being micro-managed and manipulated to that level... I know it's possible, but if true, we are royally screwed, but does that make the North Sentinel Island natives the control group?

All I am going to tell you is there is so much outsourcing of surveillance and projects for public manipulation to corporations, contractors, and the like, that it shows where all your billions of misused tax dollars are going.  Now with AI and bots they get a x 100 return on that money.

TBH on your query, I have viewed China and especially North Korea as large large control groups for a long time.
That is to say, China is the testing ground for totalitarian crap, what they can do.
North Korea is to me like an aquarium, they keep it isolated and mess with it.
Then the genie got let out of the bottle with COVID , now everyone is a target population. 
The elites are very scared of rebellion, violent physical rebellion.
The protests in Europe this last few months no one is covering were largely successful, in stopping the EU from mandated more draconian food control and corporate kick back measures with frankenfoods, killing organic farming etc.  Also huge protests against 'immigration' in UK and Germany going under reported.

The shill is just the modern form of the agent provocateurs, every grassroots movement gets infiltrated to some degree, wether ATS was setup or not by agents we both no it was monitored and by them. Even the term “conspiracy theorist” was invented by the CIA as a kind of slander.

As for everything being micro managed I believe that’s the goal, whether or not it actually is depends on the current objectives. But the big players spend a lot on PR probably more so than security. This actually gives me hope.

Agreed, Kissinger spent far too much time in China, which already has a long history of absolute authoritarian rule. There society are more compliant and hive mind like, an ideal testing ground.

Yeah, Im not saying there aren't huge operations from our government, entities, corporations, and other countries as well. 

However, I haven't seen evidence that it's singular or all-knowing... hell there are likely multiple competing factions 

Im not fearful or even overly concerned, but I ain't hopeful about humanity's direction either
