Gaza ceasefire deal to begin on Sunday - ‘permanent end to war’

It’s pretty pathetic that Biden has been spineless about getting our hostages back. There’s going to be a whole new mentality come next week. If they did attack again pretty sure the wrath of god would be released on them.

We’ll see, I also hope you’re wrong.
Don't get me wrong, I think Biden has been incredibly weak and as you say spineless in trying to get the hostages back.
I think its been the efforts of other countries/agencies that have been more instrumental in bringing about this deal......like all politicians Biden is simply using this as an attempt to enhance his reputation and legacy. (Too late for that methinks).

Trump's imminent Presidency may or may not have had some influence, I'm not sure.

The thing is, the more fanatical elements within Hamas aren't really bothered about Trump or anyone else. Their only goal is to rid Palestine of all non-Muslims 'from the river to the sea' and to set up some sort of fundamentalist Islamic Caliphate throughout the region. Sincerity and honesty are not considerations for them especially when dealing with non-believers.
They'll regroup, rearm and rethink their strategy etc and at some point, sure as night follows day, they'll resume hostilities.
I believe in this and its been tested by research, he who fucks nuns will later join the church.

I fancy Trump will also sort out the Ukraine/Russia conflict.

the road to peace is a mobius strip
an infinite spiral around the heat death of the universe
sometimes a flicker of hope on the horizon for the young
and the old just keep walking walking because that's what you learn to do
with adamantine kernels of unjustified hope safely held in pockets
they will never leave
you can never lost them

and peace is not where the road leads
its the foundation the bedrock under the tar and asphalt
that pours from the arrogance of culture
we think it make it easier to walk the path
when the world is tamed to will by war
silly shoemakers

sign another treaty boys
this one has grown bitter and old

Surely the priority is that the hostages are to be released and there will be an end to the killing.....at least for now.

BOTH are important.

Yeah, it does matter who gets the credit.

Biden was unable to do anything for 15 months.   Trump gets elected and says to Gaza (paraphrase) 'give the hostages back before I get in or there will be hell to pay' ... and so the terrorists agree to release the hostages the day before Trump gets in.   If we do not acknowledge how they really get released, then people will make mistakes in the future with historical accuracy and will make the same mistakes about who they vote for in regards to leaders here in America.

Just on Fox News. The entire deal may be off. The Israelies are saying Hamas is changing the deal. The Israelies are not going to vote on the deal until all parts are agreed to.

It seems Biden might have been too quick announce this deal to get credit for it.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?

This ceasefire seems to not be going anywhere:
Quote:What to know:
  • Why the hold up? The Israeli Cabinet was expected to vote on the deal Thursday, but Netanyahu’s office said they won’t meet until Hamas backs down, accusing it of reneging on parts of the agreement in an attempt to gain further concessions, without elaborating.
  • Is the deal at risk? It’s not yet clear if Netanyahu’s statements merely reflected jockeying to keep his fractious coalition together or whether the deal was at risk. A senior Hamas official said the group is “committed” to the agreement announced by the mediators.
  • What would the deal mean for the war? The agreement would bring relief to the hard-hit Gaza Strip, where Israel’s offensive has reduced large areas to rubble and displaced around 90% of the population of 2.3 million, many at risk of famine.

- Biden will try to take credit.   We all know that the only reason this happened is because Trump said that the hostages better be released before he takes office or there will be hell to pay.   The hostages are to be released the day before Trump takes office.

Oh wow, that is so negative
but so accurate
Personally think Israel has its eyes in the gas off the coast of Palestine as well as the new canal they intend to build through there

This will never be over till they sort out their differences and I can’t imagine that ever happening
More political rhetoric and point scoring but nothing changes
Grateful that the general population gets a break from war

Blame game, as usual with world leaders. As usual both sides' egos and power corruption have prevailed. Throw in their historical religious differences/past and resentments (feels more like hate from both sides) and the Western leaders don't have a clue how to assist with a deal in this situation. Using force for peace, maybe, but it was done before and it is evident peace will not last.

FOX was showing film footage of the Hamas leadership out of Qatar ... they were proclaiming victory and stating that they would never stop fighting the enemies (Israel) and that October 7 was a historic military accomplishment that would live forever in the hearts of Palestinians.

There can be no peace with so called Palestinians.
They can't get along with anyone and they can't be trusted ... EVER.
