So you really think government funding of an MSM company enhances The First Amendment?

Don't you realize the money was also a bat over their head to publish what government preferred the Public to see and hear, and the gov promoted censoring?  Lol

Don't stop at just NPR and PBS. End the Corporation for Public Broadcasting ENTIRELY.

There are over 1500 media stations you can go through alphabetically. The list in Alabama alone.

The top one, first on the list..

WBHM

Quote:In Alabama, several stations offer conservative talk programming, both through public and commercial broadcasting. Public radio stations that may carry conservative talk shows include WBHM 90.3 in Birmingham and WLRH in Huntsville.

Well that doesn't seem right. Alabama conservative talk radio receiving tax payer money. The first 2 of 3 on the list. With 1500 stations that's a lot of (sometimes dangerous) conservative nonsense I disagree with being subsidized too.

As long as they ALL get their funding cut too, we'll know it isn't more pure partisan bullshit in the name of revenge.

If these are funded by federal funds then I agree,  otherwise that is a state issue and voters vote for what they want in those areas and there is nothing wrong with that being "subsidized" however I do not believe any tax dollars should be the sole source of funding for any media.  Federally though it should not happen.  At the state level if that is what your state has voted for then so be it.  Thats a completely different issue.

Have you checked out their programming schedule?
https://wbhm.org/program_schedule/

It ain't exactly Newsmax.

Speaking of which, does anyone else keep NPR and Newsmax next to each other on their radio while driving? I occasionally (when not enjoying blessed silence) like to toggle between them. It's like windshield wipers going left, windshield wipers going right, keepin' the Overton window clean...

Conservative radio seems much easier to monetize than liberal programming. Gold, guns, and coffee. What does NPR have? I mean, how many tote bags does one really need? Or those oh-so-environmentally friendly boxes of "fresh" ingredients you can have drop shipped so you can pretend to be a gourmet chef while artlessly titrating carefully measured spice packets into near-unused Sur La Table cookware? Unless you can virtue signal with it, liberals are tightwads.

Well that doesn't help my point. I should stop using AI to ask things like what publicly funded stations have conservative talk. That's an NPR lineup. Sigh.

But had that station had more than one token conservative radio show, it would be a better point..

Locally we have 600 KOGO, which sounds like here writes. Now, I don't know if Gemini is lying to me again, but it says that:

Quote:Yes, KQGO in San Diego receives CPB (Corporation for Public Broadcasting) funds. The CPB distributes federal funding to over 1,500 local public radio and television stations, including KQGO.

Double check:

Quote:Yes, KOGO (600 AM), a commercial news/talk radio station in San Diego, does receive federal funds, but it's not directly through a federal grant program. It receives funds through a private, non-profit corporation called the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which is authorized by Congress and is the largest single source of funding for public radio.

It keeps saying the local station that airs Coast2Coast AM receives Federal funds to stay broadcasting.

And blah blah... I demand their funding pulled too, rhetorically etc...

The government needs to be cleansed of waste and fraud and go back to doing important things like equal law for all not for just the peon citizens but for all; even those who think they are untouchable.

I am fairly happy about this
I used to listen to classical public radio but the last 3 years especially under Biden it was mostly whining for funds and interrupting the music with stories about trans things I dont care about.
They would get more public funding if they had less preaching and more music.  I would gladly donate if that was the case.
