Donald Trump to stop the TikTok ban

If it can't be proven that Tik Tok has China's propaganda on it's platform and it can't prove that customer bank accounts have been breached that does not mean that the Chinese government won't take the platform over to do with it what it will. Where's the security, where's the peace of mind? Are Shein and Temu also to be considered security risks? What about Rednote - now the new trend?

I am against government being allowed to censor like this. They have already moved and censored smaller apps as well. I’m giants it all.

I don't use that app so I don't have a pony in this race, however, if people want to use an app without caring about their security, then have at it. However, governments seem to think that China will somehow be able to cause harm through these types of apps.

He spent a lot of time campaigning against Tik Tok and saying how it should be shut down.
Now that he thinks he go votes through it and that it can be used as a tool, he wants it to stay up.
Major flip flop on his part.
He probably smells money from this somehow ...

Just goes to show us all that they have been aware of the threat (in terms of digital security and control) the entire field of 'data collections' represents.

This could just as well be a component of expedient compromise for either international, political, or even economic reasons... we can speculate all day.  Add the flavors of diplomatic channels or back room deals and we could get lost in the possibilities.

I think this does constitute at least the vestiges of sovereign action, which is becoming rarer in todays world.
