Does it actually matter?

I am of the opinion that as long as it's there, I don't care which way it hangs. I don't even care if it's on the holder. As long as it's within arms reach, I'm fine with it.

Ok, DOES it matter ? And why ? I just don't get it.

Maybe it's me. I don't understand a lot of things people are weird about.

Back in the institution it was always hanging on the inside;
just the way the locking dispensers were designed.

Now a days I can switch whenever I like:

Outside: FREEDOM!!!

Inside: security.

End of the day (actually any time of day) it's just paper work.
There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people. - Commander William Adama

Yes, but sandpaper is also paper. Would you wipe with sandpaper? It is just paper.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

That's a fairly harsh question.

I hope it doesn't rub me the wrong way.

THAT is the issue! If you have cats, the roll unwinds from underneath. Try it the other way and you'll be sorry. At one house I am familiar with in an undisclosed location the cats took the end of the roll, unwound it and dragged it up two flights of stairs, around multiple bed posts and back down again WITHOUT breaking the stream. Don't ask me how they did it, but when asked if they were responsible they just started licking themselves as if they didn't hear the question. Henceforth all rolls were mounted so they unwound from underneath. Sometimes you must yield to practicality and leave your sentiments behind. THAT is why it matters.
Everything hurts and I'm tired.

Should be on the outside.

Never had a problem with cats.

For some reason, we can't use the bathroom without a cat being there.

Carl is particularly insistent on this.
'l'll just check my Giveashitometer....Nope.  Nothing...

He said to her, You gonna put it on right this time ? " { apparently this is a running joke between them } and she said "I always put it on the right way, you're just ass backwards ".

Here is a truth for you:    The direction of the roll may or may not matter to you.  However, if the direction of the roll matters to your SugarPieHoneyBunch, then you should place it that way.   Choose the battles that matter.  As it turns out, both of us prefer it 'roll off the top' rather than in the back.

As to sharing food in public, I put that in the same zone as people who say it uncouth to gnaw the bone of a steak you just bought.   I will choose my behavior, thank you.   If you disapprove so strongly, please step up and allow me to smack you on the forehead with my spoon.

Yep.  Just good basic, settled, toilet paper science.

For some reason my wife and I have shared the sonicare toothbrush since day 1 (20 years).  If we go on vacation and take manual TB, we have our own.  I think initially it was the expense of considering buying a second one, but it just became the norm. We do change the heads often though.

Also, over the top unless cats. To be fair, they mostly just sit on a shelf in arms reach.

Yes.   Cats are the universal noncompliant, unpredictable variable.  They are mostly unmeasurable.
