I got to the part where they mentioned "Lost Highway," and decided to watch Lost Highway instead. May be ADD related.

I really tried to get into the spooky astral stuff. In college, my friend was very into this Angelfire website with all the conjuring rituals and encyclopedic references on occult things. But I could never not feel retarded trying to take it seriously. Kinda like legitimately trying to pray or be superstitious in stressful or desparate times, it crosses wires and makes me feel worse and the situation more hopeless. Almost like a "spiritual-opposite" where the footprints in sand sentiment does nothing. I wish I could use it, and feel left out not being able to.

I'm not sure the idea of aether entities beyond our existence is a good idea. Like the idea of a mystical realm full of dark and light things seems destined for an existential breakdown. I think our brains are the dark and light realms all by themselves. We are our own damn jinn. We light our own smokeless fire.

Who says you can't take control of it and turn it into a muse?

Very true.  I also think this thread is probably the disclosure that nobody wants.

Some things Nathaniel says checks out so there is definitely a mystery floating in here.  He also goes on a very broad timeline and that always makes thing harder.  History is constantly rewritten, so we look towards the mysteries and hope to tease something out. A problem is all the mystics was clearly mad so you have to try and filter out things.

The same thing happens with practises, rituals and whatever also bastardised.

One interesting thing he talked about is that the phenomena acts like a bird hunting spiders and when it catches one it takes it back to the source.  Reminds me of Huginn and Muninn, Odin's ravens. One flies by day, another by night.

If you want to be caught by a bird be a spider.

Very tempting to write a poem for Nathaniel, poor man looks like he needs sleep.  Maybe a nymph or a sprite would cheer him up and give him rest.
