Ta.

Any additional idea why they should have done such a thing?

Seems like it should be standard, i mean they do so on the likes of buses these days.

It has happened by accident a few times, but until we get a CVR transcript there’s no way to know. There was talk of there being someone in the jump seat, but you’d expect the preliminary report to say if there was.

Every time they try, the pilot’s union screams bloody murder and threatens legal action.

But why?

What is it they dont wish to be seen doing whilst flying the planes?

I mean i seems like a great idea.

And it would certainly help with establishing the reasons as to why planes crash, or at least rule out pilot error.

Their excuse is that it’s an invasion of privacy and could be used to damage too many reputations or against pilots in lawsuits.
hmm an interesting debate would be the difference between police bodycams and cockpit video recorders... is one unethical or an invasion of privacy and the other not?

I think some would say the body cam is not, because you aren’t seeing the officer, just his actions and voice, whereas a cockpit camera would have to show the entire cockpit including the ability to identify the pilots (obviously).
@Zaphod58

Here is a better photo showing the fuel cutoff switches. Zaphod58 explained how you just can’t bump the switch to shut down the engine.
