I gotta be honest..If I were that cop in that particular situation, I'd have backed off and let him get a couple more.

Personally, first instinct,
obviously, this was a victim's relative they were interviewing, I wish he could have done all 3  

but have been semi-conditioned, sooner or later, there will be a delayed 2nd attack to take out first responders 

The guy could have gone bonkers on a cop, destroyed evidence etc and now he will be charged and be put in jail etc.

There were armed police that did not do a darn thing until Ahmed Al Ahmed took down one of the shooters.. The father shooter was already known and on a watch list.... How many times have were heard that ??????

Sirens are heard shortly after the shooting spree starts... where were they? Were they returning from walkabouts in the bloody Outback!

The police ended up in a shootout with one of the gunmen. See the above video from about the 2.50 mark.
