Quote:So when you hear the initial reports of the Jews restarting their temple and the Waqf has been kicked off the temple mount then you will know the balloon is going up.
I don't think the countries with riyals and dinars are gonna let that happen. While I'm all for an unmolested Israel, and even a third temple, I don't think the Muslim influence on The Temple Mount is ending any time soon.
Plus the apocalypse balloon is kinda unavoidable all around. Vague prophecies are destined to be fulfilled. Luckily Daniel was a descriptive writer of his vague vision.
Quote:15 While I, Daniel, was watching the vision and trying to understand it, there before me stood one who looked like a man. 16 And I heard a man’s voice from the Ulai calling, “Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of the vision.”
17 As he came near the place where I was standing, I was terrified and fell prostrate. “Son of man,”[b] he said to me, “understand that the vision concerns the time of the end.”
18 While he was speaking to me, I was in a deep sleep, with my face to the ground. Then he touched me and raised me to my feet.
19 He said: “I am going to tell you what will happen later in the time of wrath, because the vision concerns the appointed time of the end.[c] 20 The two-horned ram that you saw represents the kings of Media and Persia. 21 The shaggy goat is the king of Greece, and the large horn between its eyes is the first king. 22 The four horns that replaced the one that was broken off represent four kingdoms that will emerge from his nation but will not have the same power.
23 “In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a fierce-looking king, a master of intrigue, will arise. 24 He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people. 25 He will cause deceit to prosper, and he will consider himself superior. When they feel secure, he will destroy many and take his stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be destroyed, but not by human power.
26 “The vision of the evenings and mornings that has been given you is true, but seal up the vision, for it concerns the distant future.”
27 I, Daniel, was worn out. I lay exhausted for several days. Then I got up and went about the king’s business. I was appalled by the vision; it was beyond understanding.
Daniel was awesome because God gave him context.
Are we all absolutely sure this didn't already happen, like in 332 BCE?
They say the Book of Daniel was written shortly after (like a decade) after Cyrus deposed the Babylonian Morningstar, around 530 BCE. But it has word use and references that place it's final edit during the Maccabean Revolt around 165 BCE.
Like perhaps Daniel 1 through 14 were written during Cyrus, early post exile return, but the interpretation of the vision in 15 through 27 literally already happened when they were tossed on. The Old Testament books get redacted and retconed like that.
Gabriel tells him the shaggy goat is The King of Greece. And there you go..
The first king is Alexander The Great. He flew from the west as a unicorn goat and defeated the Persian ram. Upon his death they LITERALLY DIVIDED HIS KINGDOM BETWEEN HIS 4 TOP GENERALS. Antigonus, Cassander, Ptolemy, and Seleucus. And hellenistic culture, which I guess it was wicked enough, took over. The Wars of the Diadochi lasted for about 40 years, but their kingdoms lasted up to 300 years. A blossoming of the arts, literature, and science occurred between 280 and 160. Hellenistic Era was actually really prosperous. And, yes wicked by some standards.
So with Daniel 8: 23-25 you can take your freaking pick. The latter part of the hellenistic kingdom rule. Everyone's wicked.
I say the Roman empire, maybe Augustus could be the ruler in 24/25 because he deposed the final remaining kingdom of the 4 horns (the Ptolemy I Soter horn), and it's final rulers Mark Antony and Cleopatra VII of Egypt at the Battle of Actium in 31 BCE.
Rome being the one that declares itself God and superior to all. Which pretty much every Roman ruler did. Augustus seems best though. He still has the month named after him. Maybe earlier. Julius Caesar was the first dictator to overthrow the political order and do the I am God thing.
