I use any small plastic grocery bags as trash liners for the small wastebaskets in my home. Perhaps this initiative is sponsored by Glad or Hefty, who also make small wastebasket liners, except they charge $5 for a pack of 26.

Much like recycling, which I am 80% sure is simply tossed in landfill around here, bringing one's own reusable shopping bags it is both a form social virtue signalling and a method of practising personal environmental consciousness without any risk of negative impact on unfettered capitalism. Very American.
