I've been following this since this morning (in Europe) and things seems to have calmed down, but aftershocks are expected.

It was so strong, Bangkok in Thailand had buildings collapse, with many dead and injured.

From The Guardian:

EQs scare the crap out of me.
Sure not getting a ton of coverage in the USA so far.

Prayers and good thoughts for all impacted by this tragedy.
I know that sentiment is almost cliche....but still....

I dont care if I completely missed this video, I am going to pretend like its new...

And there is a thread for this event, so i dont have to make a new one....

For the first time ever the primary slip surface of a rupturing fault was caught 25 feet from a camera.

You can literally watch the Indian and Sunda plate change position in one less than a second.

This is capturing a leprechaun riding a mini unicorn on camera.

This is the exact magnitude and type of lateral slip motion the San Andreas is long overdue for.

That may be one of the coolest things I've ever seen...or the most terrifying.

We think we're powerful with our nuclear weapons and Mother Nature comes along and says hold my beer.

Africa too is splitting apart.
