5.7-Magnitude Earthquake Rocks Hokkaido Japan
#1
I have spent some time in Japan and the Philippines; between the Typhoons and earth quakes I kept looking for a place I wanted to go and retire in. Both countries lay on a conglomeration/conjunction of major earthquake faults and at times good ole mother nature kills off several 100 if not several thousand of the local inhabitants.
Quote:A magnitude 5.7 earthquake hit Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido The quake occurred at a shallow depth of about 10 kilometers (6.2 miles).

Just one area an estimated 167,000 died from the 2004 Tsunami  https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Zdf8fmCX4...ture=share

All told many estimates are a little over 250,000 perished in the 2004 Tsunami ...  Not nice...

I lived in Japan for three years.
Stationed at Camp Zama Japan.
Just South of Tokyo.
We had earthquakes all the time.
Big ones .. little ones .. in between ones.
And I do mean ALL THE TIME.
A five pointer over there is just another day.
Nothing to write home about.
When I was there, there were rumors that Mt. Fuji was going to blow.
And that much of Japan, including Tokyo, was going to slide into the ocean.
Didn't happen obviously.

This is scary very close to Japan

This USGS geologist suggests it may be a possible foreshock sequence,

It's also in pretty much the same area as the Fukushima EQ!!!

ETA..... pretty sure the foreshocks to Fuku were between 7-8. As OP said way back, he was hoping the original eq wasn't a fore-shock

Update, tsunami has been downgraded, but Japan is treating the EQ as a fore-shock.

Let's check the geopolitical news and see where Japan or it's leaders have pissed off the Anglo American elites with any new policies?
Weather weapons being used?
Always worth a check.
