New images from ESA’s ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) and Mars Express show 3I/ATLAS passing near Mars between 1 and 7 October.

Link: ESA - ESA’s ExoMars and Mars Express observe 3I/ATLAS

During its closest approach on 3 October, 3I/ATLAS was about 30 million km from the Red Planet  the nearest view available to any ESA spacecraft. Both orbiters used their cameras, typically aimed at Mars’s bright surface.

TGO’s Colour and Stereo Surface Imaging System (CaSSIS) recorded a series of frames showing 3I/ATLAS

Not sure if I already posted this. I thought this channel was pretty cool. It's a 24 hour round the clock live tracker of the 'comet'.

Now Avi Loeb is saying not to take family vacations after October 29th. Not sure why as only when it hits perihelion on that date. Doesn't reach the closest to us until December. This should be an interesting several months speculating until then..

The presenter in this next video is a bit of a sensationalist. However, I'd like for someone to refute the content he's reviewing from an astronomer who spends time tracking comets.

What happens at perihelion? I thought it wasn't orbiting

Perihelion simply means the objects closest point to the sun, on whatever journey it's on. Doesn't need to be in orbit.

The term "perihelion" describes the point in an astronomical body's orbit where it is nearest to the sun. Derived from the Greek words peri (around) and helios (sun), the word reflects its meaning.
In contrast, the term "aphelion" refers to the point where the orbiting body is farthest from the sun.

So what is it going to do at that point, execute a burn? What is the Delta-V required, anything it launches will also have to execute a burn. If it requires no fuel and is not slaved to gravity because exotic propulsion, what does the sun have to do with anything? The other UFO's we have seen doesn't seem to care much about gravity or physics in general. So is this some kind of new visitor then? How will the current ones react?

Take it up with every astrophysicist on the planet using word perihelion to describe its closest proximity to the sun.

Here's a current interview with Avi Loeb... he seems to be sticking to his guns.
  • He thinks 3I/ATLAS might be a technological object, not a natural one.
  • He suggests it could be "designed by some intelligence."
  • He’s pushing the UN to prepare for potential alien technology encounters.
  • He warns about a “blind date with alien technology” that could be dangerous.

Loeb is framing 3I/ATLAS as a genuine candidate for alien tech.

just for fun...it could be that 'they' have caught up and will be meeting with their own probe sent eons ago) So reaction would be joyfull....similar us catching up with Voyager some time in a future...may be.
