In my one thread (ATS) -- that I monitored -- I got one poster banned because he had his own agenda and refused to address the the topic I put forth.

It takes work to keep it on track.

Tying into your earlier comment. Where is your thread now? This is all ethereal, bits and bytes on someone else's computer. I'm not implying not to take care, if everything is gone tomorrow I wouldn't cry, if it's still here great. What was your thread about? Make it again

Different philosophies I guess. I enjoy emergent complexity and marvel at it in awe, can spend hours in nature watching the spectacle that no man controls and never feel the need to do it.

The community is also small, no crowning achievements here, maybe tsk is blessed and it grows, well there is still no material gain. There is also the matter of what is remembered "Weirdness From ATS Past".

What I'm trying to say is don't take it to seriously. Just make some threads and see what happens. There was one thread I started with just a random thought and chasing the rabbit with it ending up being a couple of pages with many people posting. It was all regret, but that's besides the point.

Since you are so control oriented, just making a thread on any conspiracy theory should be very liberating. Or some weird paranormal thing you witnessed.

Yeah, who wants to deal with trolls and bad faith actors when all you want to do is dialogue and sharing.

Of course, no one should be harassed or given grief in the middle of an ongoing conversation...
especially if it detracts from what they were seeking to resolve.

Nor should they be assaulted upon opening their dialogue... ganged up upon by avid zealotry...

and as a moderator member, I actually feel uncomfortable that happened.

At least for my part, I want to encourage good conversations, civil discourse, and noble behaviors....
but this is reality...

More often than I'd like to admit, I have launched to resolve some friction or other and found it to be
less simple than - "troll" because people will use the word to hurt others... not because it's true.
Disagreement leading to name-calling and characterizations can be much less 'black and white' than some people might presume.

Still, had I been a moderator, and sharing your topic within my habitual haunts... I apologize for not responding to such a situation.

I despise bullying... no matter how well it's rationalized.
