Yes.  I am a logical realist.

I personally would prefer a "controlled city".  I'm not going to say "bring in the military" -- then turn around and complain there's too much government control.

You can't have it both ways.  The women of Iraq complained after the ouster of Saddam -- that they were safer under Saddam.

The big problem -- as always -- is  "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely".

How would you maintain a reasonable level of control?

Let's put it this way, Im more concerned with what Trump is doing economically, such as tariff wars with China, market manipulation, crypto gains, than if he can make our cities safer and then go orange Hitler on our civil liberties  

We are in uncharted territory. Im not as concerned with the methods as much as the results.

500-1000 National Guard troops in a major city is FOR NOW is a small price too pay if it increases commerce, the community gets a shot in the arm.

It's temporary, but unless there is a Federal threat, he seems to be selective about where he can send troops; have no doubt, DC was reactive to the DOGE guy's assault.

Regardless, it has to be done on a case-by-case basis...  but if I were President, I'd find cities to partner with that do want the Guard, if they were to make extended stays, it could affect things like insurance rates, population migration, business relocation, all issues that plague our metro areas. It's indirect political terraforming once you become more safe your area becomes more safe it opens doors to more everything and those are mostly positives.
