Their guns are large and not made for close quarters, they wouldn't walk around with them if they are expecting an altercation, and they can't just leave their guns behind. They likely have side arms, but those are not for securing hostile areas. It would make more sense to call for a ground team to investigate.
It just doesn't make sense to leave their post. If a little distraction is all it takes to form a gaping hole in a Secret Service security perimeter... that would be pathetic.
Well, I think it's important to remember we don't really have any concrete information about who actually this 'team' on the 2nd floor really was. I'm not sure if we even know if they were SS or local LEO's. And, I'm nearly positive we don't know if they were an actual 'counter-sniper' team, or if they were just some local beat cops who went where they were told. We've heard rumors that they may have been asked to position themselves on the roof (implying they 'may' have been a counter-sniper team), but we are far from knowing what types of firearms they may have had, or not had, and what they were capable of.
Otherwise, I would agree with your points, but we can't forget we are all struggling to try to get the facts about exactly 'who?, what?, where?, when? and how?'...all while being light years away from understanding the 'why?' component of what happened on July 13th. So far, the government has thrown up nothing but red herrings, smoke screens, misinformation, disinformation and straight-up lies. I mean, do we even know what vehicle the shooter was driving?? Like for certain?
Regarding things being "pathetic", the list of things which are unimaginable, incomprehensible, inexcusable and yes, "pathetic" is a very LONG list indeed for this incident.
