Quote: A substitute teacher in a school district in Cheyenne, Wyoming, was fired from two different schools for refusing to call students who identified as trans by their chosen names.
While teaching a classroom at East High School in March, Gene Clemetson was approached by a student he described as a boy identifying as girl. This student asked him to be called by a different name than was on the attendance sheet.
I said to him, very politely, I have to go by the name on the roster,' Clemetson recounted to Cowboy State Daily.
After they were not able to resolve the issue, the student left and returned with another teacher who told Clemetson that the student's parents approved of their child being called by this alternate name.
'Well that's great, but again, if I'm calling the attendance, if I'm calling the roll, I'm going by the names officially registered with the district,' Clemetson recalled saying.
The student called another teacher who tried to argue the parents of the students gave their permission to be called by another name. The student is a boy identifying as a girl.
Then as the teacher wasn't going to change his mind the Principal stepped in and said the teacher is not welcome back to the school after all he did. Then he was escorted out of the school by the Vice-Principal.
And that's the second time the teacher was fired for the same reason! A similar incident occurred during the spring semester at another school in the same district, Triumph High School. The Principal asked him to leave the premises because he wasn't obviously fit to teach.
I wonder if the education authorities should take the matter further. The teacher refused to call a boy who identified as a girl with another name and a girl who identified as a boy with another name. These teachers deserve not only to be fired but they shouldn't be anywhere near children, let alone be their teachers and mentors. Shame of him! He should be banned from the profession.

Please tell me you are talking about the teachers who supported the woke children and their deluded parents.
If not, and you actually think the substitute teacher was in the wrong then I think you are wrong.
Clarification needed me thinks.

Look first what I said in my last paragraph.
I think I have explained it clearly.

Then you are not thinking clearly enough to convey your opinion clearly.
Their is absolutely nothing wrong with a teacher who does their job correctly "by the book" and perhaps with common sense to boot.
Teachers shouldn't loose their jobs because of other mentally and emotionally disturbed individuals who need treatment beyond sympathy for their woke feels and sense of narcissistic entitlement.
Taking sides against common sense is idiotic. Enough!

This is Wyoming, USA .. not the UK.
You don't know how American schools operate.
The school has already made it's decision.
No further action is necessary.
They don't need to destroy the teachers life over it.
And in actuality the teacher was correct.
The name on the official roll is what should have been called.
He was not officially told by administration that it was okay to go by another name.
In order to cover his backend, he HAD to go by the official name.
Common sense and 'by the book'.
If he had said a different name and that different name had turned out not to be okay,
he would have gotten into a lot of trouble.
He did the right thing, covering his backend.
The school was wrong in disciplining him.
But thats Wyomings problem.

Perhaps you didn't realise that my last paragraph is full of sarcasm but that's the problem when you write online. The intended sarcasm is not always understood well or even understood at all.

We all know how American Schools operate and here is a classical example. If your real name is Paul and you want to be called Nikki you have every right to do so and the teacher who teaches you have zero right not to call you by your new name and identity. If they don't then they will be fired or even have their careers terminated.

We hear about it more and more these days and I agree it's hard to comprehend the differences abroad for comparisons.
I don't think the schools would accomodate woke kids like that or sack a teacher who wouldn't pander to them and their parents like that here in France, but who knows? It seems to be such a fluid system it's impossible to have solid ground to start with.
Kids eh?

It's actually happening everywhere in the western societies and the US is showing the way together with the UK. It's unlikely to hear similar news in places like China or India.

I disagree.
If your real name is Paul, what you want to be called is an irrelevancy.
You have no "right" to arbitrarily decide one day that the world is responsible for acquiescing to your wants.
If it is so important to you to change your name, then change it... re-register under that name (and your parent would have to do that assuming you are a minor.)
The teacher does not exist to 'protect' your wants and desires. Their function is to teach the curriculum. The student is there to learn, not wallow in their sexuality obsessed perceptions. The act of learning has no gender.
If people went so far as to make it a whimsical "identity crisis" matter, all student would need to be referred by a number... so as to avoid the situation entirely.
But then numbers don't convey "identity feelings" which is the real problem here. Number 17 is number 17 regardless of how he or she 'feels' about it.

As much as some would like teachers to teach the curriculum and stick to the three “Rs” as it were, there is a lot more going on in K-12 schools than just the lessons and only someone with a limited black and white understanding of the world would fail to see that.
There is no more crucial time in our lives learning about socialization, the development of our personalities and for gaining our own sense of agency and identity to carry us into our adult lives. How we learn to interact with others and the world and establish our place within it is an inherent part of our school years so to discount these factors as being irrelevant as a part of the educational process would be shortsighted if not foolhardy.
In my opinion if the kids are gender variant or transgender and are known by others and their family a certain way, that this should be respected when politely asked without being a dick about it or trying to make a point. I know from my dealings with trans youth, decades of researching into the subject and from personal experiences that when a teacher acknowledges a student’s identity without trying to make it a political or ideological battleground, it can go a long way toward facilitating the actual learning process and curriculum.
PS
I like the little rainbow reputation thing in the profile of mods and admins. Is this for pride month? LOL
