'No big deal" Just an atmospheric phenomenon' some outages green energy absolved

Not bringing back, as they never stopped being used.

Hydroelectric is where it's at , with all of the dams in the north.
The wind farms I walked and drove under are very noisy and polluting for birds and wildlife, as well as often broken and not moving/working properly.
Hopefully more self sufficient solutions can be worked out that couple better to the larger grid and don't need inverters, like increasing hydroelectric and safe nuclear.

Other possibilities have been tried, like wave and tide power sources.
They would be a good option for those close to the shore, but I suppose they could only produce a small amount of power.

PS: in the area I live in, tide mills were used in the old times. One of them is still active and works as a museum, in Corroios, Seixal, built in 1403.
So what caused the event akin to the loss of power generation?

apparently all the windmills stopped spinning during the power outage.

I think without power already on the lines, the control system can't put any power into the system. They are designed to add power by matching what is there. If they see nothing there, they shut down. The windmills most likely just put on the breaks to lessen any damage to the electrical systems restoration efforts.
I know too much and question everything.
Does anyone know the minimum safe distance of ignorance?
Did anyone ask the monkeys how much fun the barrel actually was?

I imagine most hardware is made outside many of the countries that install the systems. Germany is really good at making solar panels and Asia is good at making electrical circuits so I don't think it's fair to say that nothing is imported.

I kinda agree, although environmental considerations must still be made regardless of the size of a hydro-electric installation.

The bottom line in my opinion is simple though, people should stop buying so many things that need plugging in. The accumulation of all the electrical gadgets, appliances, toys, hardware of all sorts etc etc means the demand is currently never going to decrease. Crazy logic.

Bring back more springed,  wind-up, manual, geared,  steam powered things.  Mini hydrogen fusion reactors in every home.
I am cool occupying myself with books. Problem is all my music is on CD.
Nice thing about vinyl is you can play it without power.
Hmmmm

I was, obviously, speaking of the fuel for the thermal power plants, and those also need hardware from other countries.
