Bipartisan House Committee Releases Scathing Final Report on Government Response to Covid Pandemic

‘Medical malpractice’ in New York, forced masking without evidence, ‘immeasurable harm’ from lockdowns, and unnecessary school closures are all cited following a two-year investigation.

The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic is releasing a major 520-page report on its two-year investigation of the Covid pandemic, laying out the many failures and some successes of the government’s response to it.

In a statement, the committee’s chairman, Congressman Brad Wenstrup, said, “The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted a distrust in leadership. Trust is earned. Accountability, transparency, honesty, and integrity will regain this trust. A future pandemic requires a whole of America response managed by those without personal benefit or bias. We can always do better, and for the sake of future generations of Americans, we must. It can be done.”

The committee’s investigation determined that it is “most likely” the Covid virus “emerged from a laboratory” at Wuhan in Communist China. It listed the five strongest arguments to support a “lab leak” incident, including the virus possessing a “biological characteristic not found in nature” and researchers at the Wuhan Institute of Virology experiencing Covid-like symptoms in the fall of 2019. The committee says there has not been “evidence of a natural origin” to dispute the idea that it emerged in a lab.

Investigators on the committee said several relief programs designed to help individuals and businesses struggling financially, such as the Paycheck Protection Program, were rife with fraud, and lax oversight of them led to fraudsters making off with hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars.

As for policies implemented to prevent the spread of the virus, the committee said there was “no conclusive evidence” that masks actually protected people. The report criticized “prolonged lockdowns” for causing “immeasurable harm” financially to businesses, but also to the “mental and physical health of Americans, with a particularly negative effect on younger citizens.”

“Rather than prioritizing the protection of the most vulnerable populations, federal and state government policies forced millions of Americans to forgo crucial elements of a healthy and financially sound life,” the report says.

Investigators also said officials in New York committed “medical malpractice” when Governor Cuomo required nursing homes to accept Covid-positive patients.
Additionally, the report says public health officials “often spread misinformation through conflicting messaging, kneejerk reactions, and a lack of transparency. In the most egregious examples of pervasive misinformation campaigns, off-label drug use, and the lab leak theory were unjustly demonized by the federal government.”

It's odd, really, this particular COVID 'event' occurred at a time in my life when I was paying a great deal of attention what my government says it was going to do, what they actually did, how they did it, and how they proceeded to sell us the idea that "we all want it."

I will eventually scan this report, but I expect there will be nothing there that I haven't already seen reported in one way or another elsewhere.

The only surprises I am expecting is when I finally realize that nothing will actually come of the report...

You know, this thread caught my eye but your post made me realize something I hadn’t before: the pandemic hit immediately after I had retired (from the federal government, nonetheless!) and until now I never stopped and thought about it!

I had toiled in bureaucracy for decades and wanted nothing to do with it for a while, so I was the opposite of you. I wasn’t paying much attention to anything, I was too “busy” relaxing. I could see my ideas for simple international travel had to be postponed. But in remote rural Vermont, we had a tiny fraction of the crap that it seems most of the country did. Never occurred to me until now!

I have no interest in anything produced by the mainstream media. And
I know I’m preaching to the choir when I say that as someone who was a senior administrator in the intelligence/law enforcement side of the federal government, I know 90% of the stories aren’t true anyway. I don’t own a TV set, I probably watch ten minutes of TV a year in the waiting room of a car repair place or some such, and just about the only social interactions I had outside of friends and family were reading ATS and administering a veterans’ forum that I volunteer with. So I had no idea what was going on in the world in general during the pandemic. And to this day I frankly don’t generally care.

The population in my area is generally two extremes, and neither trust the government nor have much use for it. You have the liberal hippy types and the farmer/outdoorsman types. One thing was for dang sure: No stuffed-shirt politician who thinks he or she knows better was going to tell any of us to wear any silly masks or get any stupid injections! Only one person I knew of would even remotely consider “the jab”, it was the old lady who makes sandwiches at the local deli. And I don’t think she ever went through with it.

This post isn’t going to be political, but the hippy/liberal crowd’s take on it was that the evil Mr. Trump allowed this questionable “vaccine” to be marketed, so it must be as evil as he is. He’s trying to kill us all because his virus didn’t! There was absolutely zero interest in that “jab” stuff in my area.

My point is the campaign of fear propagated by the MSM was there for those who chose to listen to it. Those who chose to question it or ignore it probably were better off. And unfortunately we may feel the effects for years.

Same. Corona hit at a time when I really didn't care at all about it. Had other stuff going on. Whatever, they're doing a thing. Whoop. Interesting timing.

Interesting timing with this report, too! They really hit it right. Chaos between presidential administrations, nuclear brinksmanship, even aliens and korean martial law to bury any headlines about that silly ole pandemic years ago.

They called it a 'final report'. I think they meant it. Mistakes were made. We overreacted. So did the rest of the world. Yep, some scientists done messed up and lied about it. Testing wasn't as rigorous as it should have been. Oops. That's going to be the narrative, go ahead and push against it if you like, but it ain't gonna make any real headlines and it sure as hell won't make it into any history books. Maybe there will be some studies of the medical fallout in a few years, and some lawsuits, but by then the public will have moved on... if they haven't all ready.

Wow , on the one hand I am shocked that this is an actually accurate government report .
On the other hand what this means is that the government doesn't take covid as seriously as they pretended and just used it as a power and show of power grab.
They are throwing crumbs about this while meanwhile showing that things like 9/11 , 'aliens', extraterritorial fascists, and JFK are too important for peons.

I took a glance at it... 146 pages is a lot to digest...

But frankly, from what I did see, Eco Health Alliance is doing what they have to do.

Fauci and his cohorts (I almost wrote 'co-conspirators' ) at Eco Health Alliance are pursuing the only way to avoid further damage to their sudden lack of political support.

All along, both of these, parties, have maintained a 'story' with which they are now stuck. 

To retract, amend, or add to their "narrative" now, will only weaken the 'personal' defense they will ALL eventually rely upon...
Namely, "I was operating on what I was told," which is the civilian equivalent of a military excuse: "I was just following orders."
