I just suddenly turn around and someone just popped out of a door, or their vehicle, or walking towards me. It does happen when I am not even looking in that direction at all, but most often I just see the slightest movement and turn. At night it works even better for some reason dark shapes contrast really good for me at night, especially smaller shapes. The damndest thing.
I am constantly turning to see something at night that gets my attention from out the corners of my eye. There was a time I thought I was being more exposed to shadow people lol. But it just seems like highly sensitive peripheral vision with great contrast sensitivity as well. I don't know how that translates into actual science of the brain, but I just notice darker shapes at night better for some reason.
There is the occasional intuitive turn around though, which is fairly common for me. For me, that type of noticing usually accompanies a stray thought. Like a thought pops into my head that normally would not be there, and then I look around and notice someone. Then I think, is this their stray thought??
Some people have told stories of ghosts/spirits/shadow people appearing in people's peripheral vision and as soon as you turn around to engage with them, they are gone.

Once you say the name or engage the darkness, it cowers away in fright of having been exposed.... or something of that nature? I see you Mara!

Wondering why this would happen? what could explain this?
my grandfather had the same presence issues, when he was in a room, people would randomly stare at him when he entered, even if he was completely silent.
I was also wondering if anyone here had this issue as well.
Maybe you are just prominent and conspicuous...

All animals have an aversion to threat and danger. It is an innate self defense mechanism that gives real survival advantage.
Perhaps people continue to look at you because they cannot quickly classify you as non-threatening, so they keep an eye on you.
It's that or they just think you are so beautiful to look at...

Not in these cases, literally looking at the game on tv and didn't even notice they existed. But there can always be the case where people are looking I'm not saying that doesn't happen just saying maybe don't jump to conclusions.

I think it unlikely like during commercials that anyone putting themselves in a sports bar-type environment totally ignores everyone in the place. If it doesn't make sense, it's not true is my way of looking at it.

You mean like talking with the people you arrived with or going to get a beer from the bar or taking leak during the breaks yeah I could see how you might be confused. I'm just saying in certain circumstances you might not be the center of the universe and there could just be other enviornmental factors you haven't accounted for.

So are you saying you are oblivious to everyone else around you in a sport bar-type environment, like having blinders on? Odd, I must say. How do you navigate through the fuzzy shadowy bodies to get to the bathroom?

No, I'm saying I'm not eyeballing anyone as I go about my business. Unless I was their to mingle, that's a different story all together.

I call it situational awareness and it comes in handy to notice and/or identify drunkards who may cause issues down the road in that type of environment and where I would take the avoidance way to the bathroom.
